2021-10-09 things have definitely changed that traditions family restaurant. It’s been awhile since I was here, but I loved it the last time I stopped to eat here. I do want to start by saying our waitress was the finest service person I’ve had in quite some time. She was fantastic!
Unfortunately the food is now generic. Every single thing I tried was average from any buffet anywhere and nothing was worth stopping by to eat. I’ve changed my review from 5 to 3 Stars based upon the food. I will no longer be stopping here. It is okay and you have unlimited amount of it, but I would rather go elsewhere in town and buy better tasting food.
This time the food could have used some seasoning to it. So salt and pepper and hot sauce on the table helped with that.
The restaurant is bright, well laid out, efficient in seating incoming guests; with updated décor and furniture. All tables are oversized four seaters, the dining room is clean with tables generously spaced out for comfortable seating and ease of walking to and from the buffet lines, guests of a larger stature will appreciate the thoughtful layout. The staff is friendly and in sufficient numbers to attend to customers needs with little wait.
Its evident management here places the customer experience first and foremost.
Food is served buffet style over several stations. The food itself is delicious, both in taste and quality and is closer to homemade and homestyle than the word “buffet” clues you in on.
I was struck at the salad bar that the vegetables were all fresh and the greens crisp. With a selection of dressings, I went with my favorite, blue cheese. The blue cheese dressing taste and consistency made me think it was homemade rather than a commercial brand.
While not having the quantity of selections at some of those chain buffet restaurants, there is enough variety of foods its not possible to taste it all in one visit. I decided to go with a turkey dinner and trimmings. I was not disappointed; the food rivaled any dish I’ve had at our family holiday dinners.
At $11.78 including drink and tax for a Thursday lunch, this is an excellent deal.
If you’ve never been here before its definitely worth a visit.
It’s been a bit since I was last here, Dec, 2017 to be honest, but I knew right away there had been major changes since my last visit. And with just a little bit of effort it was easy enough to confirm that there’s been a change of ownership and along with that has come some significant changes outta the kitchen that weren’t the best for your taste buds. While I didn’t try anything today that was horrible, what I did have was “meh”, what you’d expect from a school cafeteria, i.e. nothing to brag about level cuisine. In fact the best thing I had today (Sat, Oct 09, 2021) was the ‘baked garlic mashed potatoes’. The sloppy joes were overly sweet, country ham overly salty (even for country ham), lasagna lacked any depth of flavor and had little cheese to it, chicken & dumplings just about as bland as I’ve ever tasted and desserts that tasted like they were removed from a box and thawed … and I’m betting they were!
There was only one (1) plus on this visit, and a significant reason that I’m giving ‘Traditions’ three (3) stars today, and that was our waitress. Unfortunately I did not get her name, but during our stay in this area for the past week she would get the award for “Best Waitress/Waiter” if we were to give one. Unfortunately one (1) person doesn’t make a business and just as unfortunate I foresee ‘Traditions’ closing up shop in the near future unless there are some major changes. We won’t be returning with so many other better places to eat in the Valley.
