The food was absolutely amazing, and Shila’s exceptional service made the experience even better. I’m so grateful for the wonderful dining experience we had. We’ll definitely be coming back and asking for Shila again!
We sat down, got greeted, then ended up going with bone marrow. Now we did like it, and it had great flavor, salty, but great flavor.
After the app… the good
-Bread
– cook on shrimp
The rest we got was just, meh… we spent 260 bucks for this meal and it just didnt live up to expectation.
Asked for blue rare steak, got medium to medium rare, with slightly rare by the porterhouse bone. The bottom of the steak was very overly salted. Then we get “sauce” and its one that is insanely salty, then one that is just yellow with medium flavor. Oh and were gonna put an open food 5 dollars each on those without telling you.
The fisherman’s entree was decent, but the “broiled crab cake” was a crab cake mush on the bottom. The snapper legit had no flavor. I mean it just tasted like a cooked piece of fish with no seasoning. Just those 2 alone were over 120 dollars, and I can firmly say, longhorn has a better porterhouse at half the price, and their salmon beats this snapper 10 fold.
Paid 12 dollars for asparagus, and it was cooked decent with legitimately no seasoning.
The tarte given tasted like cheese Wiz on a Ritz cracker. The truffle at the end was gross.
Then dessert was the chocolate crunch…it was okay, but my fiance loves chocolate, ate 3 bites and wanted nothing to do with it.
The server was still tipped over 40 for her time, but overall I got a room and was going to choose this restaurant to propose, and decided to just wait till later in the night, because our meal was just not great. I can say without question, that there is no reason why a steakhouse selling a steak for 71 dollars should be beat by a chain with a 35 dollar porterhouse thats also bigger in ounces. Id not recommend this place to anyone.
Had dinner here the other night and, in short, was underwhelmed. Let’s start with the positive. Reservation process is easy and I would recommend if you visit during the holidays. The vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant really is the highlight. The decor and layout have a casual yet fine dining vibe that is quite appealing. However, that vibe alone is not enough to carry the quality and service issues. The most disheartening part of this dining experience is they are charging high-value prices but not delivering that experience. My partner and I ordered the tomahawk ($160) for 2 to share and each of our kids ordered the 6oz filet special ($75/special) that included shrimp. We also orded a shareable size of lobster mac and cheese (approx $20), 2 glasses of wine and a cheesecake dessert. Dinner before tip was about $430. At this price point, you should receive fast yet attentive service. The wait staff was slow. We waited quite a long time for our drinks and our bread did not arrive at the table until our food came out. Not such a big deal but we waited about 25 to 30mins after ordering for our food. The 2 waitstaff in the room were going back and forth to larger tables and didn’t offer to refill our water until we asked when we were finally able to eat. When our food did arrive, nothing was hot except the mac and cheese which had steam coming off of it. My son even said his steak was barely warm and his mashed potatoes were cool. The seasoning of the steak was nice and the food flavor was good but it felt like our main dishes were left to sit and cool while the mac and cheese was finished?? Dessert was a fruity cheesecake we all shared. It was ok…too much happening in the dessert from the very crumbly crust, to the fruit filled cheesecake center, to the fruit glazed top to the added fruit on top of that…I mean, it’s chessecake…it’s doesn’t need but so much help to be good and this really wasn’t…the 4 of us didn’t even eat it all. So, here’s the deal…when you are spending that amount of money for a meal, details really matter. This place seems to overlook the details in every area. Waitstaff were easily confused, couldn’t articulate the steak add on, didn’t bring water, bring bread, scrape table before main course arrived etc. These things are what set a restaurant apart from ok to exceptional. For instance, we were seated by the windows which made for a lovely view of the holiday lights outside BUT the windowsill was full of dirt and debri. When we asked, the manager said there was a storm that damaged the windows and caused the dirt. Ok, so you know it’s there and you just leave it? Details really matter! In summary, if your looking to pay top dollar for a mid experience, this place is for you.
Wait time for our food was long. This was a $300 after tip meal and I don’t even pay that in Pittsburgh for the same amount of food.
Long story short, save your money and go to the other restaurants around the Oglebay resort.
