Business are permitted to ask two questions when a service dog or service miniature horse come into their establishment:
1.) Is that a service animal required because of a disability?
2.) What tasks is the animal trained to perform to assist with handler’s disability?

A local handler repeatedly had been illegally removed from TOUS les JOURS, Memphis. on multiple occasions. After many frustrated attempts, they reached out for help in educating the business. Upon entry, we were immediately asked to remove the dogs, the two legal questions not being asked. A concerned member of the public stepped in to explain to the employee that what she was doing was illegal and only then did she get a manager. After an education session with the manager, all five teams enjoyed lunch and a training session inside.
If a service animal team has attempted to educate a business and the business continues to illegally deny the team, the incidents can be reported to The United States Department of Justice. Businesses not following the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) can face legal issues and fees.
But instead of helping her, the young girl working this morning refused to give even the smallest box and treated my mom with such a rude, dismissive attitude. This wasn’t a misunderstanding, this is the second time this same employee has acted this way toward my mom. My mom might be quiet and gentle, but that does NOT give anyone the right to look down on her.
What hurts the most is that my mom walked away feeling disrespected when she did nothing wrong. She wasn’t asking for anything free. She wasn’t demanding anything unreasonable. She just wanted the bread to stay in good shape because she was gifting it. Why was that so hard?
Instead, everything was shoved into one tiny bag, careless and messy. It felt like they didn’t value her time, her purchase, or her kindness at all.
No customer, especially someone as patient and polite as my mom, deserves to be treated like this. Management needs to know what’s happening at this location, because this behavior absolutely does NOT reflect good customer service or basic respect.
I’m extremely disappointed, and until this issue is addressed, I won’t be recommending this location to anyone.
While local Memphians may think the service here is good but I know that it’s nothing special compared to the authentic stores in Korea. Also, when I told the server we were dining in, the server never asked to re-heat the pastries. When I asked the server about re-heating, she didn’t seem eager, and I sensed bit of “indulgence.” As I feared, the pastries were not warmed properly, and nobody likes to eat their sausage bread cold. It’s a shame that I couldn’t taste their pastries warmed properly in-house.
Overall, pastries are the best in Memphis, but the service quality is predictably bad. Given the popularity of this shop, I predict more Korean bakery, especially Paris Baguette, will soon open up in Memphis as well. The servers at this location better improve their service before competitions arrive fiercely.
On my first visit, which was around 1 PM on a weekend, many items were already sold out. Though the selection was limited, I picked up a pre-made sandwich, a loaf of bread, a couple of pastries, and their signature chocolate ganache cloud cake. Everything was fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. The cloud cake, in particular, was outstanding—soft, moist, not overly sweet, and made with real chocolate.
I returned later, a bit earlier, and had better luck with availability. I ordered a mocha coffee but was mistakenly handed a matcha drink instead. Not wanting to make a fuss, I accepted it, though I’m not a fan of matcha. Small service slip, but understandable given the weekend rush.
The place can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, so arriving early is key. Their setup is self-serve: grab a tray and tongs, choose your items from the display, then head to the counter to check out. You can dine in or take your items to go.
Overall, I’m excited to explore more from the menu—especially their breads, preserves, and sandwiches. Despite the crowd and a small service hiccup, it’s a welcome addition to the Memphis food scene. Highly recommended!
