According to the sign, this café closes at 8 PM. According to reality, it closes whenever the staff spiritually clocks out — apparently around 5–7 PM depending on vibes, moon phase, or personal feelings.
I went twice first around 7–7:15 PM. Both times they were already closing like it was New Year’s Eve at 11:59. Coffee machine? Off. Dead. Buried. Yet somehow I’m standing in a place that insists it’s open for another hour. Fascinating.
Another visit at 5 PM to get a croissant heated. Simple request, right? Nope. “We can’t heat it, the oven is off.” At 5 PM. In a bakery. So the pastries are decorative? Museum pieces? Emotional support croissants?
If you don’t want to serve customers after 5, just say that. Change the hours. Put up a sign. Light a candle. Don’t gaslight people into thinking they’re the problem for showing up during posted business hours.
Great pastries, terrible commitment to being open. Would recommend only if you enjoy disappointment with a side of confusion.
However, the hours says open at 7am, but at 7:15am it was still not open. I would say don’t bother showing up before 7:30am or 8:00am. I had to drive to Paris Baguette because they have a similar menu. Someone else commented about the hours. Just please change your hours and avoid us the frustration.
I bought a snack and a drink and was eating while replying to emails, until an employee came over with an older lady and told us we had to leave because she was going to “do some cleaning.”
The store was empty—it was just the two of us there. The lady left right away, she also looked me without understanding and I kept drinking my paid-for drink. Then the employee came back and said I had to leave because she was going to clean.
I saw her wiping the table with Clorox, so I asked, “Do I need to leave?” She said yes. I asked, “But why, if you’ve already cleaned?” She said I couldn’t stay there and that they were closing— which was a lie, because the store closes at 9 p.m., and it was only 6:50.
I told her that was disrespectful. I’m pregnant and was consuming my purchase inside the store. Forcing a customer to leave in such a random and dishonest way is unacceptable. I’m not coming back, I don’t recommend it, and I strongly reject this kind of customer treatment.
