Out come these 2x 8” tortillas filled with toppings. Hearty, tasty, and nothing overwhelmed.
They opt for a shredded white cheese over a shredded yellow, which I don’t see done often, but was good nevertheless.
Special shout-out to their salsas, which I couldn’t not get enough of. A tiny spicy kick to the red salsa that’s then soothed by the green salsa.
10/10. I’m not down in Victoria often, but I’ll certainly pin this one as a stop for breakfast or lunch.
Small, cozy, comfortable and casual dining room.
Great carnitas, good pastor, chicken a little dry. Kind people and prompt service. I’ll be back very soon
Not busy and lots of tables inside. Decor is cute. We’d come back!
The food was great. I grabbed a few tacos, carnitas and chicken, and several pupusas. I was quite happy with the lot of them. Tasty, very affordable. I don’t think they’re going to wow you, but I also don’t think they need to; it’s quick, delicious, authentic food at a good value. The salsas here are also quite excellent. Out of every restaurant I’ve eaten at in Victoria, this place has the best salsa so far and that’s some seriously high praise.
I want to talk about the service next. The staff all appear to be incredibly friendly and polite and I think that’s one of the most important things about a restaurant or eatery. There are people there that seemed genuinely pleased to serve you, and I think that’s noble and fantastic.
The polite service, the quality of the food, the wonderful salsas, the speed of ordering, and the value of the meal; please keep this up! You’ve strong momentum out of the gate, keep it going.
The only real criticism I have is that I wish there was some way to view the menu before you hit the ordering line. The menu is plastered under the line that people walk across to customize their meals, and when people do that, it obscures the menu. It was surprisingly stress-inducing to wait 12 minutes in line not knowing what to order until I was physically next in line. Maybe a little pop-up menu halfway through would solve that!
My only other criticism is to have a little translation for English speakers. It can be daunting to read menu items that you don’t quite recognize or understand.
Consider this 5 Star rating as a happy, hopeful send-off, that Tortilleria may continue to grow and offer great customer service. This place has my blessing, continue to do great things!
