This review has nothing to do with the service or ambiance. The service was incredible and friendly. Just some feedback for the chef.
It also has nothing to do with cheap price – as someone who grew up with quality Mexican food close to the border, I have been to incredible cheap Mexican restaurants and terrible high end Mexican restaurants.
I ordered the L1 special, the two enchiladas with rice and beans, one beef, one cheese.
The enchilada sauce tasted almost like it had too much tomato paste in it, I felt like it was the tomato sauce from an Italian restaurant – I couldn’t taste the chiles that had that the wonderful flavors. It wasn’t completely inedible, but pretty mediocre. I don’t know if the sauce was made in-house or bought.
Typically I don’t like chips that are over salted but this was the other end of the spectrum with absolutely zero salt.
Fix these problems and you’re on your way to a more authentic Mexican restaurant.

Love this teeny hidden gem in downtown OP!! They do Taco Monday vs Tues, though their prices are great every day!! Don’t laugh at the fries until you try them! Mexi joints notoriously have amazing fries!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is literally the worst place I have ever eaten. I got beef and chicken tacos to go and this is what I received. The chicken was dry the cheeses was clumped together and the tortilla wasn’t even toasted. Along with that the beef tacos were just cold taco meat it was like someone just threw it together. 10/10 would not recommend don’t waste your money.

Food was mediocre. Americanized Mexican food. Service was good. Decent atmosphere. Ordered a beef burrito and pork burrito. Ended up getting two beef burritos. The sauce on the burritos was probably the least desirable part of the meal. The tacos are served in a hard corn tortilla like you would get at Taco Bell. Salsa was good.

I have been there several times and the food is always great! Last night was the first time the waiter was overwhelmed. I have to assume someone didn’t show up so he was covering everything and it was full! He did a great job under the circumstances and we were very pleased with how he handled it all!

What wonderful chips and salsa. I don’t know the history of this place exactly, but I do know I had margaritas and appetizers there with my roommate when I was single. 37 years married next month, but I will go back frequently now.

Visited Torreador for dinner while in Overland Park. We’ve heard good things but obviously they were just being nostalgic. Took forever to get our watered down margaritas and our waitress seemed annoyed or overwhelmed? Food was fine at best, nothing great to write about. I would probably check out more authentic places in the area – they are pretty bleh
