Toro Sushi in Tualatin reminds me a lot of Sapporo Sushi — especially for the oversized sushi rolls that easily fill you up. The portions are generous, and the menu covers all the familiar favorites you’d expect from a casual Japanese restaurant.
However, several details drag down the overall experience. The place tends to get quite busy, and the service often feels rushed and not very friendly. Even tea is charged separately, which is a bit disappointing. The tempura, unfortunately, is also a letdown — it’s soft instead of crispy, and they don’t provide any tempura sauce with it, which makes it feel incomplete.
The bento boxes are standard and similar to other nearby spots, nothing particularly unique. Overall, Toro Sushi works if you’re simply after big portions of sushi, but don’t expect exceptional service or standout sides.

I see why they get the rating they do. The staff was so friendly and kind, the restaurant was clean and inviting, and most of all the sushi itself was perhaps the best I’ve had. Super fresh and flavorful. I was blown away how I could taste each ingredient, even the rice and sesame seeds sprinkled on top all meaningfully added to the experience. They also weren’t skimpy on fillings. Overall easily a 5 star and I will be back!

Cute little place in a strip mall with really friendly staff and delicious and fresh sushi. Great potstickers too! You can tell they take pride in their work and on giving a good customer experience. They even gave us (unasked) a stand for my husband’s phone so we could watch the blazer game.

We’ve been here multiple times and the food is delicious. It’s freshly made and worth the price. The kids love the miso soup and gyoza (fyi the caterpillar roll comes with candy eyes). My husband and I share the bento option and it’s a perfect size for us. The restaurant has been remodeled and we think it looks great. Highly recommend!
They’re are cheaper sushi restaurants near by but the quality and taste is nothing compared to Toro.

I came here for Nigiri and Sashimi and this place was a solid 5 for me.
Not only was the fish good quality, well priced and delicious, but they nailed all the small things that are important and sometimes overlooked.
The rice was cooked well and seasoned well. Just enough flavor to compliment and enhance, not enough to draw attention.
The soy sauce wasnt one of the normal standards and was a little less salty and a little more savory, never overpowering the fish.
The wasabi was flavorful and punchy without being abusive.
There were also specific additions to different types of Nigiri that really worked with the different types of fish.
All in, I wont say its the best or fanciest spot around portland, but the restaurant and/ or chefs clearly understand their cuisine and care about the details and providing a delicious experience. Will absolutely be coming here again, and i dont even live close.

Drove by this place dozens of times. Finally was able to get to eat here. Loved it. Sushi presentation was colorful, tasty and fresh. Service was quick and friendly. Pot stickers were my favorite appetizer. Unagi was also so good and fresh. Coming back here for another sushi lunch.

We LOVE this place. They used to have a 2nd location up in Battle Ground WA. We drive down just for sushi because it’s that good. Bonus is the family who owns Toro are so sweet and kind.
