Did we spot Bruce Willis in front of Torchy’s? Anyways, back to Torchy’s. Danni and Moses were very helpful and I was excited to try The Republican gluten free and dairy free (because of Danni’s expertise). It was smoky and not fatty. Loved it. The boys liked the swivel chairs. Great spot to go to when visiting the library.

Tacos I’d say are mid, nothing mind blowing. Creative flavors, but otherwise wouldn’t say was anything amazing. I got the steak fajita taco, migos breakfast taco, a fried chicken taco, and the street corn. Street corn was very good actually and highly recommend it. Steak was a little bit tough for the steak fajita one. The fried chicken was ok, just a chicken finger inside a flour tortilla. This restaurant is a tad bit expensive for her it is. I paid $21 for 3 tacos and a half order of street corn. Tacos are about $6 each, a little pricey for what it is if you ask me. Environment was nice and clean. Restaurant is serviceable if you want a quick reliable meal that’s convenient. Otherwise, nothing to really write home about.

This is an Austin institution definitely worth a visit. The tacos were excellent. They have a nice bar and good drinks. It’s got a laid-back casual feel to it and you order at the counter and then they bring the food to you at your table. My pet peeve was when you pay they turn the machine towards you and have all kinds of suggested tips for what is essentially a completely takeout service. Many of us are just getting sick of this new system where you are basically virtually forced into providing a tip for pick up Service with the lowest suggested tip of 15% and very difficult to change, which of course is intentional.

Service at the bar and food area was great. The staff went above and beyond and found a pair of sunglasses I left behind. The atmosphere is hip, and they have happy hour drink and food specials. We bought margaritas, which were good but not overly strong. We like the Democrat taco option the best – yummy brisket and traditional toppings. The fried avocado taco was nicely done. I would definitely recommend!!

According to the big guy with the glasses the queso being a third filled up is acceptable and I need to stop complaining. I went over smiling to let him know but he wasnt having it. Apparently it gets docked from his check for a fully filled container that I paid for . Then had the audacity to come over with my full order said he put an extra queso in the bag, with an attitude. I didnt beg you for anything extra, I just wanted my container filled. Took that ish out and left it on the table. Yeah, definitely dont trust that! Smh some people shouldn’t work in customer service definitely not returning!
