We love Torchys, they have a great bar I got a spicy paloma and the airstream salad with added steak. It’s one of my favorite salads. Great staff and fast service.

I soooo missed TORCHY’S TACOS!!!! I’m from Ottawa / Lawrence and they used to be on Iowa Street for the longest time and then they suddenly disappeared!! This place! My buddies and I used to frequently eat here allllll the time! I missed their delicious bowls, cool artwork, drinks and my friends who worked there!!
Awesome vibes! Plenty of parking, plenty of seating, never a dull moment at TORCHY’S!! Upon leaving the restaurant, the manager or some staff members excitedly took a picture of me in front of their “DAMN GOOD!” slogan on the wall! I had like three different staff members offer to take a photo of me ☺️☺️☺️ at first I declined because I didn’t want to bother them but after practically the third staff member offered – I let the magic happen!
And then bro literally handed me two coupons for two free tacos! Talk about fiery red carpet service! thank you for that!!!
I came up to Olathe Kansas to run some errands and while I was going to eat at the GoodCents that I saw in the local Walmart – I’ve been eating some sandwiches like nonstop for the past couple weeks now and I’m kind of burnt out of that.
I hopped on Google maps just to see what was in the local area and holy moly A TORCHYS!!!
…. And away I went!!
I ordered the Grande Burrito bowl on the website, literally while I was exiting Walmart! Heheh
I would’ve gotten a lot more, but I was on a little bit of a budget and I would have dined in and got some brews like we used to do back in Lawrence but (I gotta drive back to Ottawa)
No problem, now that I know where a location is – this ain’t the last they’re gonna see of me

I don’t know how I managed to avoid this place so long only to come here at the suggestion of someone in Minneapolis, but here I am. It’s so good. I got the Hillbilly quest (minus the Diablo stuff because I can only take so much heat) and then ordered my main dish off the secret menu. Even the sweet tea is good. I’ll definitely be returning.

For me, this place has been over-hyped, but through a handful of dinner visits I’m finding dishes I enjoy. Most of the tacos seem like they should be packed with flavor, but often they strike me as a little bland and heavy despite the pop of colorful ingredients. Salsa and lime helps. So far the Mr. Orange blackened salmon taco is my favorite. The guacamole and chips are also mild, but I like it quite a bit. In all cases I’ve found the portions to be generous relative to typical street tacos, so you can likely get away with ordering about half as many as you normally would.
The dining room is big and there are plenty of tables that can accommodate groups. The noise of conversations bounces around the space a lot, so it can be harder to converse during peak hours, but manageable. Staff have been friendly and helpful. You order at the counter, and turnaround has been pretty quick, so a decent choice if you need a quick meal.
Update many months later: Returned for lunch and tried the Airstream Salad, a new favorite for me! Great flavors and textures, especially with the pistachios and mint, decently sized for an entree, and nice with the addition of the blackened salmon. Also tried the fountain fruit drinks, plenty sweet but a nice treat. Great service from the staff again. This visit brightened my prior opinion of Torchy’s.

Exceptional service even when I used self checkout. I ordered the Matador and queso. Everything came out super fast. I think if you guys tried melting the cheese between the tortilla and the shell it would add a lil something extra to the meal with minimal time.

I’ll be there a few times this month, the Tokyo Drifter is my favorite limited time taco. I love that I can get a taco in a bowl when I’m keeping my carb intake low. I know costs are up for everybody, but $7 for one taco does make me question the value. Luckily, they offer BOGOs and discounts somewhat frequently. I also really like the Moontower Salad.

I’ve been hesitant to try Torchys due to the price, but I finally took the plunge today and it far exceeded my expectations! I ordered the brushfire (a jerk chicken taco served with a super spicy sauce) and the tipsy chick (the corn was the standout here for me – creating a nice balance of flavors). The two tacos were a great portion size, the flour tortilla was soft and fresh, meat was cooked well, and all of the toppings provided a balanced and complex taco. The food came out fast, and the decor was quirky and inviting. I’ll definitely be back for the unique tacos and vibe.
