Does anyone have any information on whether Top Soup is going to reopen? They’ve been “temporarily” closed for at a year.

12/8/2024: This place is temporarily closed for renovations. No reopening date yet.

The beef wrap appetizers were SO good. Be aware that they’re served room temp (like Vietnamese spring rolls). They’re pretty big for one person, and they’re filling.

The pumpkin base soup was also delicious. It had an unexpected spicy kick that I enjoyed.

My dinner mate loved the chicken with vegetables combo along with the egg drop soup starter. (Update: I came back another night to try this as takeout, and I was not as impressed with this particular dish — bland.)

Service was attentive and fast.

Also noticed that this place is very popular with takeout orders because there was a steady stream of order pickups while I was there, which is usually a good sign.

Just had an incredible dining experience that brought back a rush of memories from my trip to China. I ordered the rice noodles soup with marble beef, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The flavors were rich, aromatic, and truly authentic – just like I remember from my time in China.

The soup was full-bodied, comforting, and the marble beef was tender and succulent. If you’re a fan of noodle soup, this is a must-try. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving an authentic Chinese culinary experience. Looking forward to my next visit!

When we first walked in we were unsure if we should seat ourselves, so we did spend a couple minutes at the entrance waiting for someone. Once they appeared, we were instantly sat and drinks came quickly. It was a little uncomfortably quiet for a Saturday afternoon lunch for us so be prepared for the possibility of quiet time. Definitely enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings, and we both had the sliced marbled beef noodles which were tasty as well. The original soup with the rice noodles were a great option.

I received advertising in my email about Top Soup and we decided to go try it with my family… the square where it is located is a little neglected, the general view of the place from the outside is not attractive at all but when you enter the restaurant you are surprised. .the place is nice and has a calm atmosphere ..the service is super good and fast, we waited a little longer than normal for the food, my family tried different dishes and they gave a good comment ..in my case my plate is a little cold. .but in general everything is delicious.. try it, I’m sure you won’t have a bad experience.

We decided to give this place a try and boy were we impressed. The atmosphere is very calm and pleasant, the staff was friendly and attentive and the food is absolutely fantastic. The food is very authentic, hot, and delicious, and there is a lot of variety. I had the seafood soup and it was very good, I would love to come back and try other menu items as well. I would recommend paying a visit for anyone who loves authentic Asian food.

The staff were professional and friendly. Fun atmosphere. Handicap parking at store front. When I asked what type of cuisine they serve I was told authentic Asian. It seemed authentic to me though I was born and raised in the Midwest and never traveled to Asia so I can’t say from personal experience. I had the Kimchi rice noodles. They told me it’s spicy and asked if I like it hot. I told them I do and it was actually spicy, which I appreciate. I have been to other international cuisine restaurants where I feel like they toned down the spiciness because I am Caucasian and I was disappointed because it wasn’t hot. Not the case here. I didn’t ask if the rice noodles are gluten free but most are and this is probably an option for those who want gluten free dish.

Ramen was really good, tried mine with rice noodle. Had the Kimchi Ramen Combinatio. Eggrolls and Crab Rangoon was delicious. We also loved the combination lo mein. The only thing we didn’t care for was the General Tsos chicken only b/c the chicken wasn’t fried hard but the sauce itself had good flavor. They are really nice and food is super fresh. Overall I would be back.

Pan fried dumplings 8/10
Egg rolls 9/10
Crab Rangoon (Sweet) 8/10
Combination Lo Mein 9/10
General Tsos Chicken 6.5/10
Kimchi Ramen 8.5/10

A Surprising Gem of Authentic Yunnan Cuisine in the Heart of Kansas City.

I am excited to tell you about a culinary gem I recently discovered—Top Soup Yunnan Noodle, in Overland Park, KS. In the vast landscape of Chinese restaurants in the United States, Yunnan rice noodles aren’t usually what comes to mind. With most Chinese establishments serving Americanized interpretations or leaning heavily into the spicy, intense flavors of Sichuan cuisine, finding a restaurant that specializes in authentic Yunnan dishes can feel like a quest for a culinary unicorn—even in a cosmopolitan city like New York. So, imagine my delight when I stumbled across this spot during a recent visit to Kansas City.

Yes, you read it right. Kansas City, an unexpected locale for a Yunnan noodle shop, is now home to this wonderful eatery. As someone whose wife hails from the Yunnan region, I am no stranger to the unique, complex flavors the area has to offer. So when I caught a glimpse of Top Soup Yunnan Noodle from a gas station on a Thanksgiving visit, I was determined to give it a try on our next Kansas City visit.

What followed was an experience that exceeded all expectations. If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend immersing yourself in the authentic Yunnan taste by opting for the Original, Mala, or Spicy broths. Paired with delicate rice noodles and your choice of meat (we were thoroughly impressed by the eye of round), these broths deliver a palatable journey that is as comforting as it is exciting. In Yunnan, it’s knows as “bridge crossing noodles”.

But the culinary adventure doesn’t stop there. Complement your noodle dish with their cucumber/beef salad. It’s an authentic Yunnan dish that harmoniously blends crispness, juiciness, and robust flavors, and I must say, it is nothing short of a revelation.

Besides the impressive flavors and authenticity, what sets Top Soup Yunnan Noodle apart is the exceptional value it offers. The prices are outstandingly reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which adds another layer of appeal to this already fantastic dining spot.

So there you have it, my unexpected culinary discovery in the heartland of America. If you find yourself in or near Kansas City, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Top Soup Yunnan Noodle. I promise you, it’s an experience worth repeating. As for me and my wife, we will definitely be back.

The bone broth of the Yunnan soup is incredible. It tastes truly like a broth that is cooked endlessly with bone marrows. It’s available in various flavors, in various spice levels. Every option will give you its unique bursts of culinary adventures.
Service was fast and polite. The menu also has other types of Chinese dishes.

This was my first time with the tray of toppings (vs selecting the extras) and I really enjoyed it. Of you also haven’t experienced this before, here’s how it works. When ordering you select a soup base, up to 2 proteins (no vegetarian option listed) and noodle type (Ramen, Rice or Egg Noodle). First your tray of toppings come out then, then your noodles and broth with protein. You at your desired toppings and noodles into the broth bowl, let it cook up just s bit more and enjoy.

The portion is two very filling meals. We will definitely be going back!
