We sat at the bar. The bartender greeted us and provided menus immediately. We each had a beer and ordered tacos. The place is somewhat small and there were just a few others at the bar with us.
The tacos were pretty good. The potato chips were light and crisp. I didn’t taste any of the fries.
The bartender was friendly and personable. The other patrons at the bar seemed to be regulars and he had a good rapport with them.
Prices were comparable to most other places we have gone.
Overall we had an enjoyable time.
Wait staff was friendly and very helpful, although a little bit slow to get us our food it seemed.
Getting to the food though, we had the soft pretzel, beef nachos, and mozzarella sticks to start. Nothing that would blow your socks off, but good quality bar snacks for sure. As for dinner I had their signature which is LARGE and IN CHARGE while my girlfriend had the all dya egg sandwich, each with a side of fries. I think everything could have used a bit more salt, and that is coming from someone with a salt sensitive pallete, but also shockingly, I think the oddball of the egg sandwich was actually the star of the show, but maybe that is just the Long Islander in me talking. Although I just stuck to tried and true coors light, the cocktails looked good and didn’t skimp on the pours, which is always a plus.
The real attraction of this place though is the nautical charm right along the canal. Hell, if you have a boat, you can even dock right on the premise and likely have a better shot of finding a spot there than on the street for your car. The vibe was chill with some live music playing too, but not too loud where you wouldn’t be able to just chat with friends comfortably.
Definitely a place I’d look to come back to for hanging out, especially if you’ve got a nice day on your hands.
Drinks (beers) were hit or miss as some were on a flat side, yet the bartender didn’t even notice.
Food is mostly good. Ordered clams oreganatta, but received stuffed clams, once again the staff didn’t even notice. They were good nonetheless. Fries were good as well.
The “famous” fish sandwich is embarrassing but edible if you are hungry or drunk enough. It was basically four fish sticks on a bun with tartar sauce on the side. These fish sticks looked like they came out of some COSTCO frozen box or something. Do NOT order it under any circumstance!
The staff were too overwhelmed to check in with you or notice that the beer is flat or that they served you a different dish. Generally, the place seemed understaffed for when it got busy. The bill was actually illegible and incoherent, so you wouldn’t know what you paid for.
Service, food and drinks can take a very long time so be patient and don’t come if you might need to rush!
