I had a mixed experience here. The beef and lamb skewers were extremely soft with very little meat texture, and the two tasted quite similar. The skewers felt more like they were pre-fried and then briefly torched rather than grilled fresh. After eating, there was a noticeable baking soda–like aftertaste that lingered for a long time, which made the experience uncomfortable. The grilled scallops were also quite tough. This may suit some diners, but it wasn’t for me.

Went out to try some skewers and spicy food. The bunch of beef skewers were cheap but there was no meat on the sticks. The lamb skewer was also more fatty and hard to eat because of the big skewer they put on. The chicken pot dish was delicious. Make sure to ask for pricing when they recommend dishes, we were ordering and they recommended a lamb dish to try, but we thought it was lamb skewers and it was a rack of lamb for $80.

I’ve been a returning customer of this restaurant for about a year now, with well over 15 visits. It has consistently been one of my favorite BBQ spots in the area, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to bring my family here for a quick meal this afternoon.

Because it was Christmas Day and many restaurants operate on modified hours, I specifically called ahead to confirm that they were open and operating normally. I was told over the phone that they were. However, when my family and I arrived around 3:30 PM, we were informed only then that the restaurant was closed for a break. I completely understand restaurants taking a break between lunch and dinner, but this particular restaurant does not normally do so during their standard operating hours, and this was not mentioned during the phone call. As a result, we had to find somewhere else to sit and wait for about an hour before returning and being seated.

Once seated, the first batch of skewers came out, and I noticed that three out of the four were significantly overcooked on the outside. I didn’t complain and simply tried to avoid the overly charred portions. Unfortunately, part of that same meat was still raw on the inside, which was quite concerning. I brought this to the server’s attention, and he promptly took the skewers back with a brief apology.

After finishing the meal, I left a 10% tip on top of the check. Given the overall experience, I felt that was fair. However, I was stopped by one of the managers, who criticized the tip amount and pointed out that the “suggested” minimum tip was 18%. I calmly explained the entire situation—from the incorrect phone confirmation, to the unexpected closure, to the food issues—but was met with a very rude and dismissive attitude, which made us feel unwelcome and rushed out.

I’m sharing this because I genuinely like this restaurant and have had many good experiences here in the past. I would still recommend it as one of the better BBQ options in the area. That said, I think it’s only fair to share the full story of this visit, as the service and management response fell well below what I’ve experienced here before.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Edison. If I lived closer, I come more often. This restaurant is located within the H Mart complex and offers delicious northern Chinese food. You can’t go wrong with any of the skewers. The dumplings are freshly made, homestyle and nostalgic. Highly recommend the glazed eggplant. The staff is very attentive. Bring cash for a % off.

They have very authentic Northeastern chinese food, including delicious Kabab! Their Kabab is one of the best I have had in the U.S. I have tried many dishes on their menu and very rarely something disappoint me. They all taste delicious. The staff are very friendly and quick to serve you! I really recommend this place, especially to American who have not had too much Chinese food before. This place would be a good starter.

We were seated at the back of the restaurant. I noticed that the waitress serving us was wearing gloves, but she did not change them while cleaning the table, removing used skewers, and handling dirty plates and glasses. She continued using the same gloves when placing new plates, glasses, and serving food. Because of this, we felt there could be contamination, so we had to wipe our plates and glasses ourselves. It did not seem like the gloves were changed throughout the shift. I hope management can improve and maintain better cleanliness and food-handling practices. On a positive note, the food tasted good.

If you are craving for authentic Chinese food , not an American twist version , here is the place to come and check in.
A lot of people came here for barbecue meat, which is their featured food, however, it was a surprise that the other dishes they served were quite high standard, you would think you are somewhere in a northern town in china instead of in Rutgers of New Jersey , that is how good they are.
First is the taste of meat, fresh and juicy, we obviously over ordered , but the beef and pork are all very good, make sure you ordered beef tongues, it will open a whole new world in front of you .
Dumplings is a must to order , which definitely reminds you the taste of mommy cooking . The skin is thin with generous fillings .
Various version of Chinese salad 拌菜that they mix all sorts of vegetables and sesame seasoning together , there is another one they mix with Chinese vinegar, very refreshing.
If you are into spicy, make sure you ordered the fried chicken and stir fry cabbage
They are also very good at making eggplant dishes , both barbecue one and the one with sugar coating are so flavorful. Worth to try out ..

We are very satisfied with the dining experience here

Tonight’s kebab was an absolute treat. The meat was perfectly grilled—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The spices were balanced beautifully, giving every bite a rich and satisfying taste. Overall, it was a delicious, well-prepared kebab that definitely hit the spot. Can’t wait to go back for another one!
