Tong Soon Garden is a classic Korean-style Chinese restaurant, and their Kan Jajang Mien is hands down the best Jajangmyun I’ve had in the U.S. The onions had great texture, the flavor was perfectly balanced, and overall it was really delicious—my only complaint is that the portion felt a bit small. The Gou Bau Rou was nicely chewy with an amazing sauce, definitely a standout dish. The Jjampong wasn’t mind-blowing, but solid and satisfying.

That said, there were some cleanliness issues. Tables weren’t cleared promptly after customers left, and while staff wore gloves, they seemed to use the same gloves for clearing tables, serving food, and handling payment, which felt a bit concerning. I hope this part improves, because the food itself is really good and worth coming back for.

We have come here many times over the year. It has changed a bit as ownership has changed at least once. Before it had more of a family feel and the wait staff knew us and would greet us. The food has remained pretty much the same though portions seem to have gotten smaller while prices have gone up. Still, we usually end up here whenever we want jjajangmyeon (짜장면).

We usually end up ordering double jjajangmyeon (짜장면 곱배기), double Tong Soon Fried Rice (동순 볶음밥 곱배기), salt and pepper fish (조염생션). We also try to order pea tips with garlic (콩순볶음) but these days they don’t have it so we get eggplant with garlic sauce (어향가지). And sometimes we get mapo tofu (마파두부).

Ordered a special jjamppong, portion size is huge. Broth is flavorful, but I was hoping for more depth of flavor.
Service is prompt and courteous.

Food: this Korean Chinese restaurant has the best tangsuyuk and jajang mien! All other dishes are great, absolutely recommend eggplant with garlic sauce and walnut prawns. I’d definitely want to come back and try the jjamppong spicy seafood noodle
Service: they are welcoming and helpful. They serve very fast and nice as well!
Ambiance: family style recommended. Come with a group of people so you can try multiple nice dishes here all at once!

Tong Soon is a Korean Chinese restaurant. Their food is always decent. We have been here for over 20 years. It is always consistent. Their handmade noodles are very good. Don’t order too many dishes because quantity is pretty big. Price is not cheap since it is a big dish.

I tried their M5. Seafood Noodle Soup, and it was truly amazing! The soup came loaded with shrimps, clams, scallops, and squids—a seafood lover’s dream. The noodles were delightfully chewy, and the portion size was just right.

We also had their M3. black bean noodles with minced pork. The flavor was spot-on for me—I loved the sweetness from the onions and the texture of the chewy noodles. However, if you’re someone who prefers bolder flavors, consider adding a pinch of salt and a dash of chili pepper powder to enhance the taste.

There aren’t too many Korean Chinese cuisine restaurants around the area, but this is one of them! The portions are huge. We ordered a sweet and sour pork and a salt and pepper squid, and we had so much leftovers. We also tried the hotteok on their dessert menu. Everything was delicious. The service was very attentive. Overall, a great experience and worth trying. Not sure if they have a parking lot, but we just parked on the street in front of the restaurant.

“authentic” means different things to different people; all I can say is that the zhajiangmian is the closest to what I had growing up in Beijing, clearly made by people who also grew up eating these noodles; I find this somehow at a Korean-Chinese restaurant in Sunnyvale, after some 18 years of living in the Bay Area. The service is matter-of-fact and friendly; I give the atmosphere 5 stars not because it’s “fancy” (it’s not) but because it is clean and doesn’t feel it it’s trying to sell you anything beyond the food. Speaking of food, the potstickers are deep-fried like grandpa used to make (back in the day this was how my family used to re-serve leftover boiled dumplings from the previous meal). Crunchy on outside with soft fillings. This place is better than gold or silver; it is a taste of home.

Ok, so we’ll we’ve been coming here for years, maybe since 1999. It was great for the longest time, and we really liked the kimchi they give as an appetizer. But then the kimchi didn’t taste as good, the prices kept going up, and recently, the other entrees went south too. But … now they seem to have new ownership! I’m not sure I’d say they’re back to the best they ever were, but it’s a lot better than recently. And they give lots of food!
