Happy and lively atmosphere, Tonala was warm and inviting. The service was promt, and we were seated in less than 5 minutes during a busy dinner service. We were served chips and salsa, which the salsa was very flavorful with a nice kick. We ordered their super nachos and mole enchiladas. The food was brought to us quickly and was nice and hot. The nachos were good but nothing too out of the ordinary for a Mexican-American restaurant. The mole was a good rich color, a bit on the sweeter side with not as deep or rich, smokey flavor as other mole we’ve had but was still very good. The only minus was that the rice was slightly wet but not enough to complain about. The waiter, who was very friendly, was sure to check on us in an appropriate amount of times. All in all, the restaurant and food were a good, positive experience. A good recommendation.

After our hike at Mt. Rainier, we were hungry and this place showed up on the maps. It’s a restaurant with warm, family vibes. The staff was cheerful and quickly sat us down. We got mango lemonade, tacos al pastor, and their recommended plate with steak, chicken mole and rice. We also got queso dip with chips. Everything tasted so good after our tiring hike. The service was super fast. I would love to come here again.

Big portions. Not so big price. $16 for a burrito might seem a lot, but it’s an average price. The thing that was not average was that if I wanted too, it would have fed the wife and myself. I would say there was about a pound of ground beef inside this thing, and the flavor was amazing. (Sorry I didn’t get food pictures only the chips)
Chips and salsa are free and the chips are warm and salty, and the salsa is freshly made each morning. I would say I judge most Mexican restaurants by the salsa they serve. If I lived here I would get their salsa to go about 3 times a week, it’s that good.
Kids meal sizes were enough to fill my 7 year old with food left over, and the price was good, just under $7.
Worth a try and you won’t be disappointed.

The food was amazing!!!! And drinks an food is reasonably inexpensive. It was clean an the staff were sweet and helpful and on thier toes!!! The food came out quickly an hot! And momma and I could only eat a 1/3 of our plates before getting Togo boxes, wow that was a lot of great food. I recommend the shrimp enchiladas an momma is still raving about the chicken fajitas!

I placed a pick up order today for ship enchiladas with no tomatoes and 2 orders of pollo al a crema. The enchiladas came with tomatoes and both orders of the pollo à la crema had no sauce whatsoever and the food over all on all three orders was very greasy. Very disappointed to have spent $75 on less than appetizing food.

I personally did not like my meal as it was a veggie option that was abit too creamy but my friends who I was with who had meat liked theirs. They loved the fajitas!

This dish was delicious, hard to pronounce but amazing. There dishes are massive and worth the money you pay. I wouldn’t say it’s overexpensice especially for the quantity of food you get. Every person in my family got a box, and everybody wanted a box because it was so good. The appetizers, queso and salsa with chips, was delicious.
