Food:
Some of the best food I’ve had! They have something for everyone here—very Italian, a little bit of Greek, etc!
Everything tastes very rich and flavorful. I love the Calamari and Goat Cheese Salad (sometimes I add chicken). Those are my go-to’s. Both are so flavorful and consistently taste great (I’ve gotten both 8 times at least since I’ve started to come to Milford in August. There’s no variation in quality with them, but I’ve also gotten other things—although not as much as those two, and it seems to be the same across the board: consistent, delicious, high quality food).
I recently tried the Greek Flatbread as an appetizer. It was honestly very unique, flavor-packed, and delicious. If you’re 2 people, the half sized is perfect (4 pieces, 2 each). I could also see splitting a full size with 4+ people being perfect. If you can EAT, feel free to get it as an entree, but you’ll probably have a piece or two left over. I plan on trying the Caramelized Pear Flatbread the nice time I stop by.
The Spaghetti and Giant Meatball is also delicious. They don’t give you an inane amount of pasta which is so refreshing. I can actually finish the meal! Likewise, everything about it is very tasty. There’s the perfect amount of sauce, spices, etc. As someone who comes from an Italian family that prides themselves on good homemade pasta, sauce, and meatballs…safe to say it’s approved by yours truly!
My partner has shared all those above with me or tried/ordered them at one point or another. He also approves!! Otherwise, he’s gotten the Caesar Salad and Chicken Parmesan—both which he recommends!
I can’t have high-dairy foods, but he has absolutely raved about their Dubai Chocolate Cheesecake (I think that’s what it’s called…). He’s a big cheesecake fan and definitely recommends this dessert! They also have an Almond Joy Cheesecake last I heard…yum!
Now, the best part about the food besides all of his…the bread that comes out. Surprising, right? It’s just bread? NOPE! I think it’s ciabatta bread (I could be mistaken, but it looks like a lot like it). Either way, trust me when I tell you it’s the best bread. I love the oil and sweet (honey?) butter that’s brought out with it. Yes, I’m Lacoste intolerant, but yes I risk it all for the bread and butter combo. For 2 people, they bring out four pieces. For someone who adores bread, having 2 pieces is so appreciated in a world where restaurants like to only give one piece per person. The presentation is also very classy!
We’ve ordered drinks a few times and the bar serves us great drinks (captain & cokes, cosmos, margaritas, etc).
Atmosphere:
It has that old fashioned atmosphere, but is also classy and tasteful. No where does it scream “out of date.” I find it very charming and the perfect spot for a date night. No overly dim or overly bright lighting.
They have both inside and outside dinning (when warm, of course). Dinning outside during the summertime and spring is wonderful. I love sitting outside and seeing all the life Milford has to offer!
Service:
From day one, the service has been great. Everyone is very knowledgeable, kind, and positive. They always know everything about the specials/menu, have great small-talk/conversation skills, and consistently come back to check in on our table (may it be dead, a little busy, or super busy). Not always, but occasionally I will make it clear that you know…no cheeses for me, please, if you get the idea. They always make sure to encourage me to ask about the menu for any other questions/changes I have in concern with my lactose intolerance. Greatly appreciated! I also had no clue what the flatbreads were like, and my last server was very helpful. She described perfectly what it would entail, the portions, etc. Who doesn’t love a server that actually KNOWS their restaurant.
Cost:
Completely expected & fair for the high quality food & experience. If you just get a drink with an entree, expect 20-30ish per person. If you get an appetizer (or two), maybe 30-50 per person.
Had an exceptional salad and the Best steak frites around. No kidding…. Gold Medal easily beating the French and Belgians at their own game.
Professional staff set the conditions for a great meal……. Hats off to the waitress and cook.
We didn’t demand anything (like refund), we just asked for a new dish. In the end, the dish was on the house but we left having our day ruined.
The supervisor came in and kept telling us pretty arrogantly that “this has never happened before” repeatedly and when we responded to her with our disappointment after she asked how we’re feeling. She insinuated that this couldn’t have happened because it hasn’t ever happened before. She wasn’t sorry or anything and asked us “what should I do. I don’t know what I can do for you. You tell me” and we responded “you can do anything you want.”
We weren’t interested in ruining more of our time and so didn’t get any dessert and paid the bill and tip and left.
The oysters looked fresh and were really good but the mignonette didn’t compliment it well. The house ravioli was really good. The shrimp scampi, as I explained, had hair in it.
Mixtape wedges were good. The fried calamari was ok but the calamari was so small.
