I said it before, I’ll say it again, best sushi in RVA. Excellent service, very friendly staff.

My closest sushi spot and I’m so happy about it. Love their white tuna options and their Angela roll!

Amazing sushi and staff! Was fresh and plentiful. Interacted with the server and chef and they were both engaging and pleasant. Would definitely recommend this location and would give it a sixth star if I could.

My family and I have been searching for a sushi restaurant so, decided to give Tokyo Sushi a try —since it’s very close our house and we love supporting our local businesses.

This is THE sushi place in Richmond and the surrounding area; they’re the best, hands down. The restaurant is cozy and has all the classic, tasteful decor that just enhances the overall dining experience. They also have an incredible assortment of options for lunch, which is great, and the service is so fast and food so fresh you can have a seat and be eating in no time. I love their Bento Box and 2 or 3 Roll lunch specials. Their miso soup and house salad with homemade ginger citrus dressing are the perfect start to a meal, and they also have a solid dozen or so appetizer options which are all delicious. And, of course, every single roll on the menu always impresses. When I say everything here is fresh, I absolutely mean it. Each ingredient is exceptional quality and they marry everything together in a way that makes the meal extra special. Because of the quality, you can taste all the natural, wonderful flavors in the dishes, especially in the sushi rolls…the bright green flavor of the avocado, the savory undertone of toasted sesame, and the aromatic notes in the rice. I can’t recommend this place enough. Tokyo Sushi is a locally owned small business serving literally the best authentic Japanese food anywhere in town. The owners are there every day, investing themselves in the business, and they are the nicest people you’d ever meet. You can bring the whole family for dinner, have a business lunch, or have an intimate meal with someone special. Definitely give them a chance.

The worse experience I had in my life. Terrible customer service. The waitress that took our order was so rude and made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome and all what I was asking for is an explanation for the menu because I have shrimp allergy. It’s my first time leaving a bad review but she deserves that, to at least change her attitude with other people and learn how to put smile on her face. She ruined my night out with my 9 years old daughter and she was rude even with my child by making that weird reaction on her face when she talks to us.

Ordered take out for mother’s day, and unfortunately it was flavorless. I had the Steak and Shrimp hibachi and it was extremely bland. Surprisely there was no aroma coming from the food, so I wasn’t too surprised. I ended up having to add soy sauce for a little flavor. Good yum yum sauce though.

The shrimp was over cooked. Everything tasted like soap. Very sad. It was expensive with great reviews

Great standard Japanese spot for lunch. Tasty food – their bento box was better than I expected, but nothing spectacular. My friend got the shrimp hibachi and loved it, she said the vegetables were very fresh. They have a great lunch menu, with even more options on their expanded dinner menu. Their special rolls looked quite good, and I plan to try them on my next visit. The matcha green tea was lovely, not as diluted as some places I’ve gone. My only complaint is that their rice was a little dry and the shumai were a little under-flavored, but otherwise it was a pleasant lunch.

Just visited again; always a great experience! This time I had the Florida and Dream Rolls while my husband had the New Mexico and the Veggie Rolls. All were fresh and tasty (as usual). This was my first Florida Roll and I thoroughly enjoyed it- warm and creamy contrasting with the crunch of the tempura and asparagus. I think it will be my new favorite (alongside the Double Crunchy, Dream and Twin Tower Rolls). My husband prefers spicier rolls so his faves are the New Mexico and Angry Dragon. Tokyo Sushi is north of town but well worth the trip…great sushi and a lovely staff!
