Had the Mapo Tofu and Xian Noodles.

Mapo Tofu tasted pretty authentic and was really surprised at how good it was. 10/10

Xian Noodles was delicious as well. The noodles were a bit too long though. 10/10

Great spot for vegetarians and vegans

I ordered kung pao tofu for takeout and was pretty satisfied. The service was pretty normal for a Chinese restaurant and the tofu was yummy. Lots of veggies and peanuts and just very satisfying. I would prefer the tofu a bit crispier for this dish. I would like to have tried the mapo tofu as well.

Scallion pancakes and fried tofu were both inedibly sweet – it’s like they used sugar instead of flour or cornstarch. The fried tofu smells like an elephant ear at a carnival, I couldn’t eat it. Anything that wasn’t sickly sweet was too bland.

Editing to add – the one single noodle dish was pretty good. Tastes way better the next day. Changing my review to 2 stars instead of 1.

I love this food so much!

Chili Oil Wontons is one of the best dishes you’ll try in life, homey, flavorful and perfect to share.

The Tofu & Veggie Chicken options deliver even better flavor & than traditional meat counterparts.

I also love the mom & pops feel to the place, always super clean, always courteous, hard working staff.

Thank you for the amazing, healthy food ❤️

The mapo tofu was good. I’ve had many versions with firmer tofu, but the tofu here is quite soft and tender.

Went for lunch. One of our favorite spots in the neighborhood….got so much, the fried fish the konjac noodles veggie dumplings. Chili oil wontons, and tofu summer rolls. Always great vegan/vegetarian options here. Everything is good.

Spicy Yuba with purple rice – soooo damn good. Soup dumplings – yummy! Generous portions at fair prices. Huge menu.

Where has this place been my entire life? The only downsides are that there’s no bathroom and that they’re not fully vegan. Very casual atmosphere.

I highly recommend checking this place out if you like Asian food.

A new favorite restaurant! The food at Tofubox is so flavorful and fresh, plus they have dishes that are hard to find veganized elsewhere such as mapo tofu, xian noodles, and more. There are lots of options and everything we tried was amazing. On top of that, the waitress who works weekends is very attentive and kind. She knew her stuff and was knowledgable about veganism. It was our first time visiting and she gave wonderful recommendations. Do note, certain menu items that say “egg” are vegetarian, not vegan. The restaurant itself is clean and cozy with very little frills. Definitely eat at Tofubox, you won’t find vegan food this good at their price point anywhere else in NYC! We can’t wait to come back to try more!!

Been meaning to come to this place for a while, and was very pleased with the meal. I ordered the Spicy Pot—basically a version of Szechuan dry pot—and it was spot on. All the flavor and heat I was hoping for, tasted authentic. I wished they didn’t serve in plastic containers while dining in, but it made taking home leftovers easy. The chili oil dumplings were also good (and scalding hot, be sure to let them cool down before consuming). Can’t wait to try other menu items!!
