Delicious specialty-tofu restaurant. There was a line already just after opening for lunch, but the line moves fast and the wait was worth it. Had the Tofu Soboro set, which was delicious and filling. Flavoring was subtle, just right. Note: not all dishes are vegetarian, but they do have vegetarian options. Added the fried chicken, which was so juicy and well worth getting if you have room. They allow you to choose S, M, L rice portions, which is nice touch. The tofu desert was also delicious. This restaurant does not accept cash and payment is by credit card or e-pay options.

A memorable stroll for the tastebuds. Tofu in every form: silken, braised, fried, simmered, each carefully prepared and deeply satisfying. Worth the wait in line. The Ebisu-Nishi area adds to the charm, with quirky mural by Barry McGee under the train tracks across from Tofu Shokudou, small produce stands (honor system), a mix of retro apartments and modern buildings. If you like tofu, you should try this place. Everything was tasty, even the small appetizer that’s covered by the table charge. Everyone in the restaurant was very friendly.
If you only speak English, you might need a translation app if you have special questions. Still, I don’t think that’s a problem for most people. That’s why I still rate it 5 stars.

Most of the dishes are made from freshly made tofu here, and the flavor and texture is one of the very best! I was very impressed with so many ways to eat not only tofu, but all the variety of food derived from tofu making, including soy milk, yuba (tofu skin), okara, etc. They even have shochu (焼酎) made from soybeans! All the dishes looked and tasted first rate! Many vegetarian options. Oh, and don’t miss the tofu dessert!

I was amazed at the amount of food I got for the price I paid! My friend ordered their five-spice fried chicken set and I ordered their soboro chicken with deep fried tofu set. Both meals were delicious, but I definitely liked their five-spice fried karaage (fried chicken) more because it was so flavorful and crispy.
If you don’t want to wait too long in line I suggest arriving early as it is a popular restaurant among locals! They open at 11:30 and there were already 2 people in line when my friend and I arrived at 11:00.

As mentioned by one of the comments below, it’s not a good place for vegans, only few tofu dishes don’t contain cheese/meat.
Nonetheless, some dishes suited me and tasted very good! Tofu noodle salad with herbs was very flavorful and unique, tofu rice was delicious too.
