Definitely a destination worth driving out to as Toby’s has probably the best chicken in the state. You’ll want it fresh, so stay for some great service and the crispiest, juiciest chicken you’ve ever had.
Their food definitely lived up to the hype and we’re so glad that the new ownership is continuing the tradition of excellent food combined with excellent service.

I love small town bars that have really great food. My buddy and I stopped here or their legendary fried Chicken for lunch on a Saturday. The weather was pretty terrible, but it was nice and warm inside. The beer was cold. And the food came out piping hot! Man. They might have the best chicken in South Dakota. Good enough that I would make the trip all 55 mi back to have it again. Service was great. People were really nice. Just a cool experience..

It’s been 40 years since I’d eaten at Toby’s, and nothing has really changed except for the exterior color.

I found this place through an email service I get that is sent daily and mentions 3-4 things from whatever state you choose…It is called Only In Your State and it has been great…My daughter and I road trip annually from Kansas City to the Black Hills and plan our first stop for food at Toby’s every time…I will say the chicken is sometimes better than other times but by that I mean from really really good to great…We also road trip to Sioux City 1-2 times a year and make sure to hit Toby’s while there…The atmosphere is great as it is a little hole in the wall and that is what we love…This year the girl behind the bar even remembered us from last year…Oh and by the way on the way back from the Black Hills we stop again for a meal and to have some to go for our room in Sioux City…We love Toby’s

Great local watering hole serving broasted chicken since the 1970’s. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the portions were generous. Bonus points for being a to go liquor store! If you’re bringing a trailer there’s plenty of room to park it in the parking lot

Amazing chicken fried steak . Real mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken is some the best I have had in the 40 states and 4 counties I have visited. The bartenders made a nice drink too.
