The food and service are typically wonderful, and the staff is always friendly and efficient.

I usually visit on weekdays, but for a special brunch I chose to bring my family to experience some of the best food in Tucson. Our server, Ryan, was very friendly and tried her best to ensure we had a great time, but a very busy kitchen had us waiting an unusually long time. After our server had stopped by about 3 or 4 times to assure us our order would be out shortly, but at around 45 minutes we still hadn’t received our orders.

The food came out at around 55 minutes, and I asked to see the manager. I explained that even with good communication from our server, the experience had fallen short of my past experience and expectations. The manager then proceeded to throw her server under the bus and claimed that perhaps the server (Ryan) had failed to put the order in in a timely fashion. It was extremely unprofessional of her to blame her server, and I shared my feelings with her. No apologies were offered, and when my check arrived there were no accommodations made for the poor experience.

When a manager receives a complaint, the right thing to do is to offer an apology and assurance that the restaurant will do better.

This latest experience was a miss, from a restaurant with an otherwise stellar history of great meals and service. This will certainly not be my last visit, but I will expect better from Toast 101 next time.

If you don’t like your dish, they will not remove your meal that you DID NOT EAT from your bill.
Per their “policy”, not only do you have to pay full price for the meal you thought was disgusting, but you will ALSO have to pay 50% for another meal if you want to eat something else.
Do not go to this restaurant. The manager was extremely dismissive and disrespectful. The customer service is trash and this should not be tolerated. As someone in the service industry, and I was shocked that the guest experience doesn’t matter at all at this restaurant. They want to take your money and they don’t care if you enjoy your food one bit!!!!
This tasted like dog food… I wish I was exaggerating hahaha

Another wonderful place in central Tucson. There’s so many great little places to eat here in Tucson and Toast 101 is another one. I stopped in for a bite and coffee and was impressed the food is plentiful, creative and tasty. I tried the Greek Avocado Toast with cream and feta cheese, avocado, sun dried tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette. Light but filling and tasted excellent. The coffee is strong and not bitter. Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant and even though it was busy it didn’t feel crowded or too noisy. Prices are not super low but you get plenty of food and it’s prepared with care IMO. There’s a variety of seating options both indoor and outside in the covered patio. There’s plenty of parking too. My waiter, Jordan, was friendly and helpful. Recommended.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!

We took our Cousin out for breakfast for her birthday because we had taken our Nephew for his birthday a few weeks earlier and had a pleasant experience. We walked in and got seated at a booth where you had to sit at the edge of the seat in order to reach the table, the server said oh yeah it can’t be helped, mind you the restaurant is not busy or full. We asked to be seated at another table and we were able to move. Then we informed our server it was my Cousin’s birthday, as they usually do a doughnut or a mimosa. The server was like great. what would you like to start off with, my Cousin ordered a Mimosa flight, some ordered coffee and so on. The server brings out the flight with the sparkler that. they put on the birthday treat they do the drum thing and it was great. I was like hold on but didn’t say anything just let it go. We got our food out looked great we ate then we are given our check. I look at it and I see a processing fee, I asked what it was for, the server said Ooohhhh it’s because of we charge your card we have to charge to process it. We were said oh no then we will pay with cash and take off the fee; she said oh no it’s already programmed and we can’t take it off. She brought over the”manager” who was of zero help he said the owner decided to spread the processing fee across the board to all customers not just people who pay with cards and he couldn’t take it off shrugged and walked away.

So if you pay with cash or card you will pay a processing fee no matter what!!!

Service was friendly and knowledgeable, Jordan makes this place another place to go. Lots of sweet combinations for breakfast. I loved the was the steak was prepared on the breakfast special, but my eggs were cold and served in a metal bowl. I could still taste the vinegar and that ruined that part of the breakfast for me. The tater tots tasted like they deep fries them in oil that needed changing :0( My friends were happy with their sweet combinations and they were beautifully presented as you can see by the pictures. There is enough to split if you like ordering the same thing. Get there early to avoid the crowd. The parking lot when we left was a zoo. People were crowded around the entrance for seating in the restaurant. (Sunday, lots of families) Ask for your military discount.

We went for breakfast, my wife had a BLT and I had the quick breakfast with bacon on the side. The food came to the table in good order, the server was very good. The French fries with the BLT seemed soggy. My eggs were good Sunnyside up. The tutor tots were good and crunchy. The toast was soggy with butter so I am not sure why they gave me jelly when there is no way I will put that on top a buttered toast. The bacon I got was not crispy. The lemonade I had was good and I received a refill. My wife’s coffee arrived with coffee dripping down the side of the cup in several places. The price seemed ok for what we received but the food came to our table not cold but warm and not hot. I like ketchup on my sausage but our ketchup bottle was empty, noone around to help get me a new bottle so I walked to a table inside and swapped one out. We sat on the patio and noticed all the chairs were different. ALL the tables had plastic cracking on them that is sharp along the edges, you could cut yourself. The table next to us brought their dog in and let it sit on a chair, it was a small dog and not a service dog. I don’t think dogs in restaraunts is a good idea and I own a dog, but am responsible for it. Some people are allergic to dogs and letting it sit on a chair or inside the restaraunt is not right, it could have bugs. The restroom was clean but again run down, holes in the walls and graffiti on them as well. This place really needs a remodel, serve food hot and keep non service animals out.

I ordered the chicken fried steak skillet, and it was good but nothing extraordinary about it. My friend ordered the avocado toast, which looked fabulous. My 6-year-old ordered mini waffles that she thoroughly enjoyed. I will be back to try something on the sweet side as the plates that passed looked phenomenal. I was a little skeptical to go to this restaurant as the reviews were hot and cold, especially regarding wait times and service, but I have no complaints.
