So disappointed with my experience.
I had lunch here yesterday and ordered the salmon, which came with two salads – one on the same plate as the salmon and another on the side. Unfortunately, the salad on the plate smelled bad, as it was starting to spoil, and the side salad had a few rotten pieces in it.
I mentioned this to the waiter, who spoke with the manager and returned saying they would give me a 10% discount. Honestly, if I were the manager, I would have come over personally to apologize for the situation.

Been coming here for at least ten years now. Sometimes 4-6 times a year, sometimes less. Was there just before Christmas 2025 for the first time in a year and it felt, looked, smelled, and tasted the same. Not that I chewed on the bar lol. This is a classic, no nonsense Irish American style bar/pub. Drink selection is good, menu is good, and service is adequate. Prices for Center City Philadelphia are reasonable, and it’s got a nice atmosphere. We went on a night when it wasn’t too crowded, but I’ve been the for networking, Meetup, and business functions where you couldn’t walk anywhere in the bar. Besides that and the noise that comes from the times it’s super packed, my only other two knocks are the portion sizes, especially for a (Irish) bar are small, and the service isn’t necessarily top notch always. Not bad service, but not “wow this is amazing”. But if you just want something reliable, affordable, and last minute, you can’t go wrong (so long as it isn’t filled with 1,000 finance bros from the nearby businesses lol).

Bills Game Days – just unparalleled in Philadelphia. Outside of game days, absurdly overpriced and taking advantage of anyone looking for a quick drink before a delayed train out of Suburban. $9 for a pint and $24+ (!!) for a double bulleit and coke and you’ll barely taste the Bulleit….as if it’s a rooftop bar with an incredible view of the city.

Gorgeous decor, Edison bulbs, old books, carved wood. Comfortable seating available.

Cons: Amazingly loud for a mostly empty restaurant (the music was blasting way too loud). A waitress seated us facing 4 screens playing sports. Then another brought our appetizer of corn beef rolls topped with slaw in a mustard horseradish sauce. But we had no plates silverware or napkins (I have not eaten coleslaw with bare hands and no napkins…so odd?) Got utensils and napkins finally, the rolls were AMAZING!!
But then, a large group came in to watch the screens and were staring through us and yelling sort of at me a foot away. So we moved tables to a quieter location. Husband who eats at this restaurant 5ish times a year, got nice fish and chips. I ordered the Irish breakfast. The meats are TOP quality, best I’ve had outside of UK. The eggs were not as I ordered them and the toast was stale, super sweet, and dry (NOT the sourdough on the menu). This could have been fixed if the waitresses had ever come back but they did not. No refills or checks on dinner they just sped past. (We were right on the route to and from the kitchen so were visible to the staff.)

Will have to try again and hope staffing issues are resolved by then.

Been coming here four years. Live right above it.

The bartenders decided to ignore me for 15 minutes since they were both too busy flirting with another patron and literally ignored me.

One star for horrid service. I got up and left.

The food is also nothing to write home about.

Tir na nÓg! The first and chips are delicious. I’ve also had their Ruben which is also great. I’ve had an enjoyable experience during a game and on an ordinary weekday night. The kitchen can get a little backed up if there’s a large crowd (like during a game) but the food is worth the wait.

We were their yesterday & I had future family members from Cambodia who we took to the city for the day. I had a gift certificate from a few years back and used part of it last year. When I arrived I asked for a Manager to check before we sat down that they would honor it. I was told yes, by the waitress until the check came, than I was told they cannot accept it. I asked for the manager, and he came over and was very nice after explaining the situation he agreed to take the certificate. I want to say Thank you Miles for your help!

I love the people here, they are awesome but they close early almost all the time and the food has taken a nose dive and isn’t very good. This is a place to drink after work or a place to watch the Buffalo Bills (this is a Bills bar) and they do a great job on those random days. But overall not a place I’d recommend in a city with so many options, this is your sleepy bar that’s going to close by 9:30pm and give you OK at best food (if they have what you ask for).

I’ve been a regular at Tir Na nOg since I turned 21. From St. Paddy’s Days to Premier League mornings, it’s always been my go-to. Unfortunately, my visit during the Mummers Parade yesterday was a massive disappointment and showed how much the standards have slipped.

Despite the crowds, we found a table, but the service was lackluster. We had to hunt down our own utensils and napkins after our food arrived. The food itself has fallen off tremendously; I ordered the Reuben, which was incredibly small for the price, and my wife’s Fish and Chips made her sick within 30 minutes of eating. Paying $100 for a meal that results in illness and poor service is unacceptable. It’s a shame to see such a decline in atmosphere and quality after all these years.

Always go here when I visit my buddy in Philly. Great atmosphere for premier league game days, bartenders are nice and service is quick. Breakfast is better than the other meals. Love to nog
