Timwah Dim Sum | Visit Jacksonville

In Timwah, we do Dim sum the traditional way. What that means is that we got two food carts that push around in circles in the restaurant, so all you gotta do …

I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp which is pictured to presented beautifully with vegetables and green scallions

When the Server brought it out, it was just a pile of fried shrimp. I asked her where the vegetables and scallions where she said they were out of them.

A presentation and taste were totally different. I said it would’ve been nice to know that before it was cooked and brought to me I would’ve ordered something else. She offered a small side of steamed rice for me.

I assume this was because I said the meal wasn’t properly prepared and was missing ingredients. I was shocked when I got my bill and I was charge extra for the steam price as an add-on

Very poor customer service will never be back

Jacksonville is so gullible when it comes to food because this place is very basic. You can hardly read the menu ,there is no price on the menu. Their Customer Service is horrible and none existing . We waited for over 1hr to get our food. Inside the restaurant was very warm like the air wasn’t on. What we went for they didn’t have it. Idk what all the hype was about, but we didn’t have the Dimsum experience at this place.

TimWah Chinese Dim Sum Restaurant
8358 Point Meadows Dr, Suite 11, Jacksonville, FL 32256

After wrapping up church service this morning, my stomach was growling like crazy, so I decided to check out this local spot for some authentic Chinese dim sum. I’ve been craving those steamed buns and dumplings forever, and TimWah seemed like the perfect quick stop in Jacksonville!

Let me start with the good stuff: The food? Oh man, it was GOOD—really, really good! I loaded up on classics like shrimp shumai, pork siu mai, and those fluffy BBQ pork buns that just melt in your mouth.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and hit that perfect balance of savory and steamy. But the real star? Their chili oil—it’s hands down one of the spiciest I’ve ever tasted!

It had this intense, fiery kick with a hint of garlic and sesame that elevated every bite. If you’re a spice lover like me, you’ll be in heaven (just have water handy!).

Now, the not-so-great part: The service… well, it sucks big time. It was painfully slow—think waiting forever just to get a menu or refill on tea—and the place wasn’t even busy when I arrived.

They weren’t rude or anything, just disorganized and understaffed, which made the whole experience drag. I get it, dim sum spots can get chaotic, but this was next-level sluggish.

That said, I think I got lucky timing-wise! When I walked in, the restaurant was totally empty—nice and quiet with that cozy, no-frills Asian eatery vibe (think simple decor, steaming carts, and the aroma of fresh dim sum filling the air). But within 15 minutes, it exploded with people—families, groups, you name it—and suddenly it was packed!

The server even had to start telling new customers to wait outside in line. Pro tip: Go early to beat the rush!

Overall, come here for the killer food (seriously, dim sum dreams come true), but definitely not for the service. If you’re patient and all about the eats, it’s worth it. Would I go back? For that chili oil alone, heck yes! Who’s tried TimWah? Drop your thoughts below—any must-order dishes I missed?

The only downside is this place is small.
They have the best dim sum in Jacksonville and Saint Augustine and even better than Orlando ones. A lots fresh shrimp in their dim sum dishes and very authentic. I don’t know what happened before but now they are back to their best. I am very appreciate that I can have the best dim sum here. You can taste the freshness, not heat up from the frozen food, and the heart for making them good, healthy, and beautiful. Thank you TimWah chefs.

Cute small made-to-order dim sum restaurant in a cute neighborhood southeast of downtown Jacksonville. Food was very fresh and tasty. The service was great . It’s a small cafe, but cute, quaint and very clean.

It has decent Dim sum in variety and fair flavor. When the restaurant reached it’s maximum seating capacity of 40, service was very slow. They had only one server on the Tuesday I was there. It took 25 minutes for our party of 2 to receive our food after ordering. We were the 3rd party to be seated after opening at 11:00. The table and chairs showed signs of being well used.
TimWah could have had an off day when I was there. I had friends refer me here.

Restaurant was a little warm inside. It’s small but quaint. Staff is friendly and the food is really good and very fresh, prices aren’t terrible for the portions you get either! Everything is made to order so it’s super fresh, but you do end up waiting a few minutes versus some of the other dim sum spots in Jacksonville where you can grab stuff off of a cart. I’d still say this is a great value though for the portions and The taste. Definitely coming back when I’m feeling the urge to get some dim sum

This place is adorable and delicious!

One of the best dim sum places I’ve eaten at and they’ve got some cute taro cat buns that we all loved (especially the kiddos).

We’re just passing through this area but if you are ever nearby, this is the place to eat at!

This has been our favorite spot for Dim Sum in Jax so far. Very affordable, great portions, delicious food! Only reason not a 5⭐️ is due to not having the vinegar/soy/ginger/chili oil sauce to dip the food into. We especially loved the Salt & Pepper Shrimp, which we devoured before even snapping a pic. Everything was delicious and fresh. We will be back again! Try them out
