Needed to spend the evening not at a casino and ended up trying this place out with a few friends. The entire experience was fantastic! Drinks, games, food and the overall energy of the place made our night very fun!

Had an absolute blast over the holidays doing karaoke here with friends. We didn’t have any food but the drinks we had were good. It wasn’t super busy but we had a good time

Has to be one of the best bars in Ames! Awesome atmosphere. Wonderful staff (Chay is great!), and the drinks are incredibly good. Highly recommend The Rebellion and the Butterbeer.

I just went here for the first time, the atmosphere was very chill but extremely fun at the same time. They have plenty of arcade games to play (most of them cost 50 cents per play), and the video game themed drinks are so cool.
The Bill and Ted wall is also very cool, I wish I had one of my own
I’m definitely going to be coming back regularly.

I do not usually like bars. I had a very fun time here with friends. Coincidentally, it was karaoke night. Even better. They have a great selection of games that are well maintained. The staff are all lovely people, especially whoever’s mom works here. Me, and my quarters, will be back.
(Suggestions for games, if more are added in the future: Another air hockey table, Paperboy, and Rhythm Heaven)
edit: I forgot to add, it was pretty loud, but I expected that since it’s an arcade bar with karaoke on a Friday night.

Fun bar with vintage arcade and pinball, along with more modern games. They all take quarters, and the bar area hosts various specialty nights, such as trivia night and karaoke. Reminded me of the 80s arcade Dark Star located in campus town.

Time Out Arcade in Ames offers an impressive selection of pinball machines and classic arcade games including a dedicated purpose built star wars room. Staff seemed attentive and happy. The retro decor immerses you in 80s and 90s nostalgia. Their karaoke nights are lively and well-attended. With affordable drinks and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a fantastic spot for both gamers and music enthusiasts. Don’t miss if you are in town.

Can definitely tell you it’s really nice here. There’s fun, themed drinks. There’s a counter where it looks like you can buy some retro figures, games, and a whole N64! (Correct me if I’m making assumptions!) Karaoke was a blast to listen to, and it’s awesome having a bunch of retro games combined with some “modern” ones.
As a heads up, some folks might find it overstimulating on nights like karaoke night, BUT in my opinion it’s a good kind of overstimulating, and I won’t dock points for a good atmosphere. It’s absolutely worth a visit, if anything, for the games.

This is my favorite bar in Ames. The bars I’ve been to in campus town are incredibly loud to the point where you can barely have a conversation and they only play songs that were popular 5-8 years ago.
At TimeOut there is so much to do!! the games are affordable and the karaoke is so much fun. The Karaoke competitions feel like a live show with entertaining judges. They also play a variety of music old and new along with music videos to watch while you sip your drinks
If you are feeling overstimulated they have a quieter Tim Burton themed room in the back with booths and soft music for ambiance.
Seriously such an underrated bar. If you’re a little nerdy like me you need to try this place!!
