The Owner Ruben and Cook Joe greeted us warmly and were very helpful in deciding what we wanted to order.
This was our first time at Tico’s after a few attempts to go previously. We were not disappointed! The food was cooked fresh and piping hot! You have to try the Pumpkin Empanadas!
To top it off, the restaurant is gluten free, I was able to share food with my girlfriend.

Absolutely amazing and delicious food. It is unheard of to be able to go somewhere and eat safely as someone that suffers with celiac disease. Staff is so knowledgeable and kind. Definitely will be coming here very often.

I have been many times and always have a great experience!
Everyone is friendly and the food is always made fresh and tastes delicious!
The empanadas fillings are very flavorful no matter what you choose and they are stuffed!
Being gluten-free, it isn’t often that you get to enjoy something that is flaky and crispy like these empanadas are.
Highly recommend, you can’t go wrong, no matter what you choose to order!

We had dinner here as a family and it was a great experience!! We have two young kids and the chill atmosphere made it quite comfortable. The food was delicious and 100% gluten free! The Yuka fries were amazing along with bbq pork empanadas and chicken bacon ranch empanadas with agua frescas. The guys working there were extremely friendly. I would highly recommend!!

People were nice and the atmosphere of the building was nice. I wish I could say the same for the food. Ordered 2 chicken, 1 pork and chimichuri, and one beef and potato empanadas. The food had a weird aftertaste from the empanada, and the filling wasn’t much better. The beef and potato was okay at best, and that’s with the “salsa verde,” if you could call it that. The flavor profile was way too lime-focused and not much else, which was essentially just masking the blandness of the food. The chicken empanadas were genuinely one of the worst things I’ve eaten this year, and not even the salsa could save it. I took one bite without any and genuinely struggled to take the second WITH the salsa. Overall, for the incredibly steep price of $24, I’d much rather buy the ingredients and make it myself knowing that even if I totally screw up an entire batch, it wouldn’t be much different than what I was fed here. 1/5, and that’s being generous.

One of my new favorite places. We have been in several times now and it is so nice to be able to order anything I want on a menu! It is not easy to find places that have so many gluten free options and no risk of cross contamination. My favorite item is the nachos with steak, but the loaded fries with steak (although not on the menu yet), is also amazing!

My family (full of celiac patients) absolutely LOVES this place! They are a 45 minutes away from us, but well worth the drive. The quality of food at this establishment is top notch! We got the pick 12 empanadas, nachos with sweet chilli, apple pie empanadas and churros… DON’T GO JUDGING US! Between the quality of the food, kindness of the staff and the value…. you’ll be addicted too!

Almost everything is gluten-free except for things with teriyaki (i’m pretty sure) — Which is perfect for us because my husband is symptomatic Celiac! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!!

Tico’s Empanadas is a Long Island GEM! The first day i walked into the restaurant i knew Ruben, Christina and his family were passionate, hardworking , respectful people who were dedicating to putting the absolute best quality food out the door. The constant evolution of the menu and atmosphere at Tico’s is a true testament of the passion Ruben has for his dream. If your thinking about stopping by dont hesitate! I would highly recommend you follow them on instagram as i love to see the new menu items being developed. For me personally i love the chicken/cheddar bacon ranch empanadas, buffalo chicken empanadas and of course my go-to the rice bowl with steak and pork. Something about that boom boom sauce is just special! Oh and dont forget the Aqua Fresca! I usually get half pineapple half strawberry! Im hearing they have churros now too i didnt think this place could get any better. #GlutenFreeGang
