This place is very special!!! It feels completely authentic to the area, with really positive good energy and absolutely amazing food! From the cornbread to start, to the crispy calamari, the lobster bake with chunky pieces and a garlicky butter sauce topped with crumbly bread crumbs, and to the brownie Sunday which was soooo chocolatey! The three cod tavern is a must in Marblehead

Omg. Soo happy we found this gem. Seafood casserole was amazing! Clam chowder was best I ever had. Beat Seattle’s by a landslide. The Mac Daddy fried fish platter was Amazing!!!!!Definitely recommend the stuffed mushrooms appetizer too. We kinda went all out. An the waitress was a doll! I forgot her name. So sweet though.

Fish and chips are so good here. The best in town of you come to Marblehead. Chowders are excellent too! There is a secret depending what time you come in, but I will not tell you…. Everybody, patrons and stuff are the friendliest you could ever hope for. Love it!!

Ate here twice (lunch, then dinner) during our visit to Marblehead. First stop was after driving for hours and just needed a place to eat. Upon walking in we immediately felt welcome. Townie atmosphere with quick, lively service and really good seafood. Both visits our food was fresh and hot, while our drinks were cold and strong. Perfect combo for us weary travelers. Owned by locals and well worth the visit.

Three Cod Tavern is everything you want in a classic New England dining experience—family-owned, full of charm, and brimming with heart. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with a warmth that feels like home. The atmosphere is cozy and energetic, with that unmistakable buzz of a place that’s truly loved by its community.
The food? Consistently fantastic. The clam chowder is rich and comforting, the baked haddock is a standout, and their lobster roll is one of the best around—fresh, overflowing, and perfectly seasoned. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual weeknight meal or celebrating with friends, every dish is served with care.
What really sets Three Cod apart is the energy—you can feel the pride and passion of a family-run business in every detail, from the service to the menu. It’s no wonder it’s become a beloved staple in Marblehead.
A five-star gem, through and through.

Always great food and great service. They have some of the best fried pickles in the area. This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch or dinner.

Love this traditional New England restaurant, been two or three times now. The prices are better than the restaurants on the waterfront and the dishes are good without being pretentious.

Nice little spot. Bar on one side, restaurant on the other. I went in because of the locals going in and out. Obviously popular place. My server was a sweet older lady with a limp. She was like your Mom,lol. Truly Sweet. I’d go here just for her. I got the Jumbo Shrimp. It was a bit bready. A bit crunchy, for my tastes. I noticed it was the only Seafood not Market Priced, so it may have been frozen. My fault. It wasnt bad, by any means. It just didn’t wow! I did thoroughly enjoy my meal, and would go again.

Chowder was awesome!! Had had the Haddock fish sandwich which was incredible. Highly rated this place. The service has a 4 star because (1) We had to hunt someone down in order to be seated and (2) when she sat us, it was more a “your waitress will be so and so. Here’s your menu.” And then scuddled off like she was bothered we came in the first place… Will I go back though? Hell yes! The food was really good!

It was quiet when I first showed up just after 12:00. I recommend going early because my guess is they get packed. The food was great. I will be going back.
