The calamari appetizer was great. Hot and crunchy. The rings were chunky and meaty. The basil fried rice was also yummy.
Now the strange part. We ordered drunken noodles. When the food came out, I immediately knew it wasn’t drunken noodle. I asked the man who brought us the food, “what is this” and he said it was drunken noodle. I took one bite and knew it was pad see ewe. We waved the server over and she confirmed we ordered the drunken noodle. She went to go check in the kitchen. At this point, with the confirmation from the man, the four of us had each taken a spoonful. She came back out, asked us if we still wanted the drunken noodle. I said yes. She then went back to the kitchen, came back to us, and took the plate of half eaten noodles.
A. I’ve worked in restaurants, and that is not sanitary. To bring a dish half eaten back to the kitchen is unheard of. B. You guys made the mistake. Why are you taking it away from the table?!
When she came back with the drunken noodle, I could tell that the old noodles had been mixed with the newer noodles. There were different color noodles, darker and lighter, and the texture of the older ones were mushier. The season of the drunken noodle was also just ALL black pepper. Not good.
The food was overall too sweet. I eat Thai food A LOT and drunken noodle has always been spicy. I left with a sticky taste in my mouth from too much sweetness.
Lastly, for the portion and quality, it is VERY expensive. I have NEVER paid this much for Thai food. There was nothing fancy enough to make the drunken noodle with beef a $29 dish. The beef should have been ribeye or filet for that price. The sesame chicken was nothing special, and it was $19. That fried rice has ground chicken, also $19. I think all the entrees started at $19. Nothing really set the food apart from a $10 lunch special at any other Thai restaurant. The noodles were the same. The sauce too sweet. And not a spicy Thai chili in sight. Everything is very overpriced and underwhelming EXCEPT the drinks!
So. 2 stars for the very delicious, good amount of alcohol, and well priced alcoholic drinks. Negative 3 for the weird awkward non sanitary way they fixed the mistake that they made, and for the taste, sweetness, and pricing of the food. We all agreed we’d go back for many more drinks, but maybe only for a couple appetizers.
Also, try their Pho with chicken – I cannot stress how good it is!
I wanted to try something different and Thithi’s did not disappoint.
The Thai egg rolls were perfectly cooked. The Saffron Scallops (new to the menu) were wonderful. Didn’t know tempura asparagus would be so good!
And their bar has something for everyone. From the well known bourbon to (what is?) Mezcal. Don’t worry, I know what Mezcal is. And their drink specials cover every palate too.
Finish off dinner with either vanilla creame brulee or chocolate cake. Just can’t go wrong.
Personally I can’t wait for round two!
