This is what fine dining is all about, good food, good service, and a good time!
I took my date here and she absolutely loved it!
A very nice bar to boot!
A very busy spot but little to no wait time! The food was totally gourmet, tasty, healthy portions, it was perfect! The host even takes time to visit every table! Priceless!
I love this place!

The food was pretty good. The service was slow. It looked like to us they didn’t have enough servers. Just like other restaurants in Oregon, I saw a few flies even though our table was far away from the entrance and kitchen. Seeing food debris on our chairs disappointed me right away. Then, when a server brought a few serving plates, there was food debris on one of them. Disgusting.

We enjoy, but don’t frequent Thirsty Lion. I’d say we visit twice a year? The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is nice. The food is high quality and consistent. Happy Hour food is expensive, so be sure to compare to the regular menu. Example: on HH menu 2 spicy chicken sliders are $10 and fries are $8. But, the full sized sandwich is $17 and includes fries. Gone are the days of HH bites being a great deal in most establishments. My one complaint about this restaurant is the 3% service charge to cover the expense of employee benefits. It’s NOT the guest’s responsibility to shoulder this! Imagine if grocery stores, clothing stores or other types of businesses tried to add this type of charge! The food is already priced pretty high and we tip at least 20%! They can’t by law force the customer to pay this fee and we sometimes ask for it to be removed. It’s just awkward in a group or business setting. And they purposefully design it that way.

Kicking off another J&D Adventure in the 2025 Porsche Macan GTS! There is no better way to start a Saturday in the PNW than with a drive to one of our go-to spots, Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill.
We skipped the apps and went straight for the brunch powerhouses today:
• Traditional Eggs Benedict: Perfectly poached eggs and Canadian bacon on a toasted English muffin, served with their signature crispy herbed potatoes.
• Gourmet 1/2 lb. Burger: A juicy patty on a brioche bun with hand-cut fries—the perfect “lunch” anchor for a late morning.
• The Bloody Mary: Expertly crafted and fully garnished to get the day moving.
Huge shoutout to Julia behind the bar for the top-tier service! The Macan GTS handled the damp Portland roads like a dream on the way here, making the drive just as satisfying as the meal.
Next stop: Hunting down some limited-edition bites for the final day of Portland Dumpling Week! Stay tuned for where the Porsche takes us next.

It was tough to choose between the Baja Fish Tacos (3) (which my husband and I have previously enjoyed) and the wagyu bacon burger. Michael gave some excellent pros to both dishes. We decided to order one of each. Both entrees were fresh & wonderfully flavorful. Great portions and they came out at the right temperature. The fries did come out undercooked however Michael was quick to come out with a fresh batch that were delicious and cooked to perfection.
While eating, we noticed another gentleman, named Howard, that was attentive to several guests and extended his service to us as he was clearing dishes from our table. Being a G.M. there seemed to be no act of service too small for him. It is clear that Howard leads by example and that customer satisfaction is his primary motivation!
All three times we have been to Thirsty Lion, we have been greeted with decency and great delight from many of the servers. They all work so well as a team and with smiles that refresh the entire food service industry.
The incredible food & exceptional service has been one of the best ways to end the day!
We are rarely nourished by such an incredible dining experience!
Thank you, Thirsty Lion Team. Your heart work is noticed and very much appreciated!

We came here on a Wednesday in August for lunch while traveling. We had just gotten to town and picked something that looked good from the map. I also like the name Thirsty Lion and it was leo season and my birthday week so, naturally.

We sat at the bar. The bar is pretty big. There weren’t too many people at tables but it wasn’t slow by any means. Our bartender, Laura, greeted us and gave us menus upon sitting down. She filled out a little name card which I thought was a great idea. Who can ever remember names at a restaurant? I know I can’t. Anyway, we ordered drinks and she took our lunch order.

I had the Mediterranean bowl at Laura’s suggestion and it was good plus a generous portion size. The turkey sandwich was good as well. Laura was friendly and attentive.

The atmosphere was pretty much like a sports bar, casual and easygoing. Plenty of TVs in the bar area. Prices were comparable to other similar places. Parking was easy – there is a shared parking lot with plenty of spaces.

We had a nice lunch.

They were very nice and great takeout service. The food just wasn’t great. The pretzel was a little stale ($17 pretzel, it’s big) and the “cheese” sauce was like liquid, grainy stomach acid. Just awful. The mustard was only slightly better, not much flavor. The poke bowl was ok, but needed more sauce, and maybe sauce options vs spicy or nothing. The fish didn’t taste fresh.

Update tried ordering again tonight….. ordered the tobasco burger came delivered with no guacamole. It’s absolutely rediculous how you never get what you pay for when you order togo. Really disappointed

If you are eating in this place is amazing!!! I tell everyone it’s one of my favorite restaurants. But when you order Togo and or delivery they miss the mark. I ordered 2 of my favorite items today and they were both missing something. Won’t be doing togos with them anymore sadly.
