I regularly go to lunch with co-workers downtown and we decided to try somewhere new, so we walked to Thirsty First and had one of the worst restaurant experiences. There were 5 of us and we all ordered food and an appetizer. The jalapeno poppers took a while to arrive, and they were very burnt and room temperature. When our food arrived, everything that could possibly be burnt or overdone was. The bacon on my sandwich was burnt to a crisp completely black (all the black you see in my pic is the bacon), the fries and sweet potato fries were burnt (but room temperature), and the chicken in sandwiches and salad was overdone and chewy. The cobb salad was only lettuce, dressing, bacon bits, blue cheese, avocado, and one tiny tomato. When we asked about the egg that should be in it, our waitress (Margo) said they were out of eggs. Besides the food being so bad, we all ran out of water while we were eating it and couldn’t get anyone’s attention. We were the only ones there besides one couple sitting outside. One of us finally walked up to the bar where the waitress was staring down at her phone and asked for a refill and the rest of us never got offered a refill. A couple of us wanted a drink besides water but were never asked. Never did anyone ask us how the food was or if we needed anything else. A different lady came over and cleared the table and then came back and set down one single check without saying a word. We were all paying separately and had to find our waitress and ask her to separate them. I have hardly ever left a bad review, but our experience was especially bad. We all agreed there are many other places to eat downtown, and we will not be back here.

So we haven’t been to their new spot and we know the food is good so let’s grab a table outside and eat!!
I grabbed the St Pete wrap. So many good flavors. The shaved beef is awesome.
Debs bloody came with waffle chicken sliders and their tot bombs. Bombs are delicious. Bloody was awesome but the stuff on top was too much.
Jason our server was great. Got the wrap at his recommendation. Awesome call.
Still really good food here and the new spot with outdoor seating is nice.

While my 1st night grabbing drinks here made me want to give this two stars based on the evening bartenders, a second late afternoon stop changed my opinion. The 2 male bartenders were attentive, friendly, & knowledgeable. The bar attracts a lively & fun crowd that makes you feel welcome. Live music in the evening also set this bar higher than other bars.

When I moved to Florida, I stumbled upon thirsty first while walking downtown and decided to walk in on a whim. 8 years later, it’s still my favorite spot in Saint Pete. Good food, great atmosphere, amazing staff, and easily my favorite spot for football/hockey season. Just to prove i’m not biased, if I had to say 1 bad thing, it’s they took my favorite sandwich off the menu and I’m still upset about it. BRING BACK THE HEN!

They make the best margaritas. I tried some new food items this time around and the stuffed tots will not disappoint. They are so delicious! Sliders are good too

This place was recommended by Google as having a great happy hour. I have to disagree. They did have a well priced food menu for happy hour, but the cheese quesadilla with chicken that I had wasn’t great. It was pretty dry.
In addition, the happy hour drinks were less than. I had 2 tequila drinks and I couldn’t taste any tequila. I finally ordered a glass of cabernet and it was tiny.
When one is looking for any place to eat and drink with friends, they should be given an idea of what kind of place they are going. I would classify Thirsty First as a dump. Cement floor, plastic chairs, and loud. I would not recommend Thirsty First to anyone over 25.

This is one of my friend groups regular hangs. Football Sundays, Love Island Watch parties, holiday bar crawls, we’ve loved Thirsty since the original location.
Can’t beat the wings, the drinks or the awesome bartenders. If you’re looking for a good time you have to check it out!!

Carson at the downstairs bar was lovely. We had the mini quesadillas on HH for $7 which was a good value despite the word mini. The Hawaiian bowl with tuna ginger and Quinoa was yummy.
