Reviews
The price was moderate, and the dining time was limited to 2 hours.
The ventilation was poor, and there was a lot of smoke. The staff were quite proactive in changing the grill plates, which is commendable.
The environment was very noisy; the person sitting across from me had to shout to be heard, otherwise, it was impossible to hear them, and talking was exhausting.
My favorite cut was the Black Angus hand-cut short rib (original). It was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly on the grill without much fuss. I also tried the marinated version, which was good too, but the sugar in the marinade tends to burn quickly. It left the grill messy and required more frequent slate changes, which slowed things down a bit.
Luckily, our servers Theo and Oscar were great. They were attentive, helpful, and really kept things moving. Whether it was changing out the grill or checking in at just the right moments, they made the whole experience more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for high-quality Korean BBQ with solid service, Thirsty Cow is definitely worth a visit.
Unfortunately, my car was broken into while I was there. The window was smashed. Nothing was taken, including a fernie blanket on the seat, but that may have been what made them think something was being covered. They did try to get into my trunk but didn’t take anything. As a wardrobe stylist, I usually have clothes in my car, so I was relieved, but still frustrating.
The restaurant said their cameras only cover the first row in front; my car was in the second row. I wasn’t given a contact number and had to take it as a loss. With the holidays around, be careful and don’t leave anything visible in your car.
Good quality meat and food in what was likely an old Chili’s restaurant located near the Costco. I suggest paying the $54 to get the hand cut short ribs (our favorite) and a larger selection of beef items .. including steaks.
As others noted, service was great… friendly and efficient. The two girls serving our area frequently walked back and forth along the central dining aisle with eyes scanning the tables to check the tables. They would promptly ask if we were ready to order the next round of dishes. And meat dishes would arrive about 5 minutes after the order was placed.
One suggestion is to dip the almost cooked beef or pork in the dipping sauce and hot sauce and then put it back on the grill for a minute or so to let the sauces caramelize. The taste is sublime.
I would avoid the belly cuts if you can because the high fat content makes you feel full quickly and suddenly. That was my my experience
There are about 10 or more Korean BBQ places in the Rowland heights area. Not all are AYCE and some have better quality of meat. They’re also more expensive for what you get.
Overall, Thirsty Cow is our favorite in terms of value, quality, service and atmosphere. We will pay another visit the next time we’re in the area.
