Look. No seriously. Look. I ordered the turkey wings, collard greens, yams, cheese Mac and cheese and strings beans with crush grape soda. When I say I devoured this it was chefs kiss okay!! I ordered on the app so I cant speak about the customer service or atmosphere. Just know that the food is definitely for thee soul. Pics below…one pic i took in better lighting but it speaks for itself. Great portions.

The place was pretty , the staff were good, but the food was nasty n old. My turkey wings had a lot of fat, the greens were overcook n old, n the Mac and cheese was oily. I never go back. My stomach been on fired for two days. I let two coworkers taste the max n cheese n meat, they refuse to touch the greens. The koolaid was the only thing that tasted good

The best soul food restaurant in Norfolk hands down! I usually get the turkey wing dinner because I love me a good smothered turkey wings with mac and yams this time I tried something new the oxtails! They were so good I’m convinced everything they cook turns into gold! This is my favorite soul food spot and they are nice to add.

I’m not here to bash or put anyone restaurant down but I do tell the truth. I ordered a pickup on doordash. they had it ready for me at the time of pickup, that was a plus. The food was less than Mid . I ordered turkey wings, Mac and cheese, greens and yams. The turkey wings wasn’t bad but they use a seasoning taste like tyme in the gravy it was to much. The Mac a cheese didn’t have a good flavor. The greens was ok and they were out of yams. They did refund some money back because they were out of yams, so that was were the 2 stars came from. I ended up throwing half of the food away.

Before talking about the food, I can’t get past the long wait. We waited in line at least 20-30 min in line just to order, followed by about 10 minutes to get our food (2 dinners and one extra side) for takeout. I’m used to waiting at these kinds of places but what I couldn’t understand was why the wait was so long if the food was ready made. There was also a significant amount of time when they weren’t taking people from the takeout line, so I guess they were either understaffed or primarily getting food for dine-in customers before moving to the take-out line. It was extremely annoying at the time….

That being said, I’m so glad the food was at least worth it. I decided to try the turkey wings because they looked huge and had a great brown color across the glass. They definitely looked as good as they tasted! The meat was so tender and flavorful and slid right off the bones! The gravy was delicious too! The sides were also pretty good – the rice and gravy was tasty and the mac and cheese wasn’t too cheesey, which I prefer. I was sad that they didn’t have green beans as indicated on the menu, so I’m glad the mac and cheese was at least good.

Overall, I’m glad the food was good! I just would not come here if I’m really hunger because the wait is brutal.

I don’t Leave many reviews, but this is my second time ordering from here and every single thing I have eaten has been 10 out of 10 good. I see a lot of reviews talking about customer service being bad. I Don’t know anything about that, because I ordered both times to be delivered. But the food? Delicious. I would add a picture with my review, but I ate it all.

This was the worst whiting I’ve ever had. It tasted like reheated frozen, not fresh, fish. It was tough, rubbery , and smelled way too fishy. My husband and I both threw ours out. Such a disappointment. Go to Blackeyed Peas at Lynnhaven Mall instead. Trying something new does not always work out. It definitely didn’t this time. ✌

I’ve ordered from here quite a few times. The fried chicken is always good. That’s normally my go to, and they have a great lunch special where you can get three wings and two sides.

The food here is hit or miss in my opinion. Three items in particular that tend to be good some days and bad other days include the macaroni and cheese, the yams, and the turkey wings.

Sometimes the yams are delicious and other days they’re mushy and dry. The last time my mother ordered them, she said the yams tasted like they were days old. The turkey wings are also dry sometimes. I personally think some of their dishes being dry may have something to do with the heat lamp the food is sitting under. I think it dries certain foods out.

The mac and cheese has its inconsistencies too. Today, we picked up a half tray of mac and cheese and green beans. The green beans were OK, but the mac and cheese was watery and tasted like they added too much pepper. My sister had to add more cheese, garlic and onion powder, and smoked paprika, then baked it a little longer. Our family said it tasted much better after she made some changes.

I would go back for individual meals but not for catering. The quality of the food is just too inconsistent to rely on for events, sadly.
