Probably one of my tougher reviews as I don’t normally post if it wasn’t better than OK. The place itself is a cozy little spot with some decent character. I was hoping it’d be the same with the food, but it just wasn’t. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was pretty bland in flavor. Sauce was really watery and the chicken almost flavorless. Maybe it was just a bad time/day so I’ll have to maybe retry it some other time. Though my wife was thinking the same about her dish. Did have the Tiramisu as a dessert and it was really good. Value would be there with some more flavor but as it was, not what I was hoping for. Again, maybe just a bad day.

I’ve been to a lot of fantastic restaurants in many different cities over my lifetime, but The Woods still stands out as one of the all time best. I have been coming here on most of my trips to Greater Cleveland for the last ten years and it has never disappointed.
The food is world class. Even the bread and butter, something I shy away from at most places, is too good to pass up. We had clam chowder tonight – California style (a mixture of New England and Manhattan). It was delicious!! The wings are baked and then fried, creating a really original and unique taste that you’ll love. The lobster ravioli blew my mind. Every single dish was perfect.
And the staff are so friendly! They appreciate their customers and it shows. It’s just such a nice welcoming feeling when you are there; you feel like you’re with family.
I can’t finish this review without talking about the ambiance. It is truly is something special. The design of the building, interior, decor, and lighting just creates this really wonderful environment to spend a couple hours with a date. It’s so cozy inside, you will feel like you have been transported to another place and time. The journey starts as soon as you pull into the cobblestone parking lot and it doesn’t end until you leave.

The decor clearly is outdated but I feel like it works. Went for the Saturday prime rib special. The bread that came out with the butter was so good. The combination of the two was heaven. We ordered calamari and that was also delicious. It was not the typical fried calamari but more with sauce and peppers. It was amazing. Then for the 2 sides to my main dish, I got red potatoes and rice pilaf. Rice pilaf was meh and the red potatoes were ok. My bf got mashed potatoes and that was where the money was. Prime rib was cooked well and juicy.

Absolutely fantastic experience from beginning to end! The atmosphere is unbelievable and the service was exquisite. I ordered the rigatoni pasta with meat sauce and it came with bread and butter. The salad dressings are homemade and are to die for! There was plenty of parking in the back of the building and I already look forward to the next time I come in! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and want a special sit down Italian dinner!!!

Solid meal. I had appetizers only because happy hour menu is pretty good. Really like the bruschetta. The chicken fingers has really like coating. The we’re good but not great. The corrected the calamari fine but it was okay. Mother in law really liked her pizza. Daughter loved her spaghetti. Worth a try during happy hour if you have not been. Pasta is good.

We were seated promptly and our server came immediately to get our drink order. Our meal began with piping hot crusty bread and soft butter, followed by a fresh house salad with blue cheese dressing. Next we were served a generous helping of beautiful mussels cooked perfectly in garlic butter. Our server was so attentive throughout our meal, bringing a plate for shells, asking if we need a drink refills, getting our feedback on the food, etc. she also took the time to explain that the pasta comes with a hard boiled egg. I grew up having pasta with eggs and it was such a throwback for me from my childhood! I have never been at a restaurant where this was offered! We both got pasta. He got rigatoni With meat sauce, meatballs and sausage. I got Angel hair with meat sauce. Very generous servings and we were able to bring half of it home for the next day. The sauce smells wonderful, tastes wonderful and is seasoned perfectly. This is pasta sauce the way my grandma used to make it. We received room for dessert. He had the Belgian Mousse cake, I had tiramisu. I’ve had a lot of tiramisu and this was definitely my favorite. The Belgian mousse cake was rich but not too heavy and so delicious. We loved the atmosphere, as it was friendly, clean and welcoming. This was our first visit and we will go out of our way to go back. Thank you for the most enjoyable experience! Next time we’ll take some photos!!
