We had a great first experience at the whiskey jar. Our server Madi was super friendly and helpful with any questions we had, she was a rockstar. Food also came out super quick which was awesome. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and then the double bacon smash burger and the chicken bacon club. With the burger (which was super tasty) I also got sweet potato fries with their delicious homemade ranch. Great experience, and quick to get seated and get our food. We will definitely recommend this place and will be back!

Good drinks, awful service.

We arrived at the whiskey jar shortly before 4 o’clock on Sunday, we were welcomed in and greeted by a woman who made small talk than asked if we wanted to start with a round of drinks. We got our drink orders in, waited a few minutes than a different employee brought them out to us, maybe 10 minutes after arriving. While enjoying the drinks and viewing the menus we decided on what to eat, still waiting for service and interaction from any one of the staff members that all seemed to be pre-occupied with wiping down the back room or helping the other 2 tables that were in attendance at the time. After waiting until about 4:40, my wife approached the bar as there were 3 women there that did not appear busy, upon asking for some service a maybe (I’d say) middle aged woman, blonde and on the shorter side came over to ask what we want (this is where it gets colorful)
After she assures us there was some miscommunication, as the woman who seated us was nowhere to be found at this time, we stated we had been sitting there waiting for roughly 40 minutes and watched as people working walked by countless times, never bothering to check in. After this waitress asks what we would like to order, wife states we wanted and appetizer and she would get a wrap of some variety. The waitress addressed that and began to act as if the order was complete and myself or my 10 year old did not want to eat, I spoke up asking if we weren’t allowed to order? She said we were sharing the pretzel and the club wrap so she didn’t understand what we were asking, I clarified that the pretzel was an appetizer and the wrap was for my wife but my son and I still needed to order, which she again did not understand. So we repeated it again, to which she seemed visibly confused and she asked if we had been helped yet, told her we received drinks and that was it but we would like to order food after waiting for 40 minutes. She apologized stating she didn’t understand and that her shift just started, she just got there, although she was there the entire time we were there. I believe she was either intoxicated or under the influence of something other than alcohol, we told her to forget the order, we will pay for the cocktails and leave to which she just told us to leave. Rather disappointing. Not looking to have it “made up to us” but maybe address some of the issues with wait staff, only takes one bad egg to spoil the bunch.

Went tonight for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. It was amazing! Service was spectacular (hopefully you are all lucky enough to get Karen!) Jalapeno popper egg rolls were delicious, the steak was perfect and don’t get me started on dessert! If you haven’t been yet, GO! If you have, go again! Thanks Whiskey Jar and Karen for making our anniversary wonderful.

The best brisket nachos I’ve had, anywhere. The Buffalo-whiskey marinade on the wings was top-notch as well. Steak skewers were mid, and the green bread was good but a bit salty. Overall, the food was really, really good, and I’m excited to try more menu options.

The biggest complaint here is that it took over 30 minutes to get our food on a Sunday night, and it was absolutely freezing inside in mid-December.

Tried Whiskey Jar in Delano for the first time today. Atmosphere is fantastic! Our server was Karen B, super attentive and had good food suggestions. Food and beer were well worth it. Large portion sizes – this meal I split with someone. Definitely putting this place on my list of frequent stops.

We enjoyed our meal at the new restaurant in Delano! The restaurant is spacious and has a more lively atmosphere in front by the bar, but plenty of seating for quieter meals and families in the back. The menu is affordable and diverse with so many things we wanted to try. We ended up having the wings with the Smokey Whiskey sauce (these were the star of the meal!) and Brown Sugar Bourbon steak skewers as starters.
My husband and I both tried burgers and fries – I had the River Street Deluxe and he got the Double Bacon Smash.
We can’t wait to go back! A great addition to Delano’s restaurant scene.

First off, I am not rating the restaurant. I’m rating their catering service. Our family had an event at a nearby venue and the bride chose the whiskey just to cater it. The bride and groom met with the chef and he made them 2 types of pasta. They loved it and said it was amazing! Unfortunately on the day of the wedding the food was not prepared by the chef. It was the worst food I’ve ever had at a wedding. The noodles were so overcooked they looked like slop on my plate. The meats were awful too. Burnt meatballs and the chicken was like chewing rubber. Everything was served out of hot bins by high school kids. There were snacks served later in the evening but it was so overdone it was inedible. Such a disappointment for a premium price. I would never recommend.

Great place! The food and service was great. The restaurant itself is very nice. I didn’t really notice it, but a couple of people in our party noticed a strong bleach smell in the restaurant. We decided to be seated outside because they couldn’t stand the bleach smell. That said, we will definitely go back. Keep up the good work Whiskey Jar!

Nice casual dining and drink spot in Delano! Enjoyed lunch with a friend in this new find. The Whiskey Jar Wedge salad was delish. The Brisket Nachos were perfect to share and equally yummy. Friendly and attentive staff!

I ordered walleye, which was really good. The fries were cold and rubbery. Had they used the 2 bite rule and checked back, they could have resolved it. I ordered 2 Bloody Mary’s, and they were OK. I thought well let’s give the wings a try. I ordered these dry rub wings to go to try something else on the menu. They put so much seasoning on them like they were seasoning a 10 lb Prime Rib roast. You can’t taste the chicken. I guess this place is new and they will improve maybe.

I worked in many restaurants as a cook, bartender, waiter, manager, and trainer. I also have been to cooking school.

But was it worth the 54 plus dollars I paid. No.. The fries I couldn’t and wouldn’t eat. The wings I had to scrap the seasoning off just to get a couple down before I threw them out. They were not edible.

I would say I will give it another try sometime, but I am just not feeling it. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? Who knows.
