It was alright. Definitely nothing to write home about. We arrived on Saturday afternoon for lunch. We sat at the bar and were asked if we would be ordering food or just drinks. We informed the server that we would be ordering both. She then told us that it would be about an hour wait for food as they were behind on their orders. We looked around and the place was almost empty, with only 2 or 3 tables occupied, so this made no sense. We went ahead and ordered drinks and then decided to order an appetizer, which we ended up receiving after about a 25-30-minute wait, so we decided to order entrees. I ordered the hot dog basket and my boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish. Roughly 15 minutes later, our server came out and told us that they were out of shrimp, so my boyfriend ordered scallops instead. The food was mediocre, at best. If you’re in the area, it’s not a horrible place to stop, but don’t have very high expectations.

It’s a local spot for me and that’s not the only draw. The location is gorgeous, overlooking the lake, owned by same local family for as long as I can remember. Excellent selection of delicious GF choices, clearly marked to make decisions easy. Fabulous drinks from the bar. They do feature awesome local musicians per their schedule. Can be very loud during typical meal hours due to echo in the main diningroom (vaulted ceiling) keep that in mind if your hope is to visit with others at your table and converse and potentially plan dining at off-peak hours.

Delicious Sunday Brunch listening to Katie Daggett. Best Prime Rib ever! Perfect poached eggs and to die for hash browns. They even have gluten free options so I got to sop up the eggs with toast. Mom loved the corned beef hash with poached eggs. We’ll be back!

We went here as we drove by and were reminded of the past weathervane experiences. We were greeted almost 10 minutes walking Into restaurant. Hostess sat us right next to a very loud family and we had no room to move. Waitress came and was letting us know we could t order certain foods (fine by it). When asked about gluten free she was able to let me know that the fries were not gluten free as they were in the same fryer as everything else, but sweet potato fries were gf. Ordered a gf meal and a sandwich for my boyfriend. We waited over an hour for our meals and when we got them they weren’t hot. I was going to say something but waitress was never around and other workers were socializing with each other. People that came in after us got their meals. Very frustrating. We paid way too much for what we got. We have realized restaurants we grew up with are no longer the same. Waitress Melanie shouldn’t roll her eyes at customers when they chose not to order a dessert and hand payment to her and also tell customers something is gf (sweet potato fries) when in actuality they are fried in the same fryer as everything else. People have severe allergies and that’s not good if they are lied too

We always stop at the Weathervane when we travel in Maine and they take such good care of us. Most recently they hosted our family for a post funeral meal and it was absolutely perfect. We went for the dinner buffet option and the food was delicious fresh and hot. The staff was warm and friendly and gave us just enough privacy while also taking care of our needs. I think they have the best Bloody Mary in the state of Maine. Many thanks to June and the crew from the Siegler family.

We saw their piece on Maine Life. We went out for lunch. We had the loaded potato skins, Waldorf Salad, and Turkey Club Sandwich. All the food was great. They have Sunday brunch, which we will try. Their special drinks menu looks like many are good, and I will try at a later date.

It was the first time going and I’m glad we did..I had the haddock chowder and I don’t usually eat that but I’m glad I did. It was the best haddock chowder I have ever had..(that says a lot coming from me) I am hard to please sometimes cause of my health. It was so good we are going back again this week.
I do suggest that you make a reservation just in case they are busy. Summer especially..
