Unique and simple donut shoppe, perfect amount of flavor choices, nothing too fancy or filled but perfectly fried donuts with just enough sweetness. Super friendly service, the gentleman who helped us explained the process/menu and was very patient and helpful. “hidden gem” in a laundromat

The Washboard Donut Shop & Laundromat – A Sweet Surprise After Rollins Pond
After camping at Rollins Pond, we went searching for fresh, fried cakes and stumbled upon The Washboard Donut Shop & Laundromat. The smell alone was enough to draw us in, and the donuts did not disappoint—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and just the right amount of sweetness.
We didn’t need to do laundry that day, but the idea of sipping coffee and eating fresh donuts while your clothes spin in the next room is pure Adirondack practicality. We had the chance to meet the owners, who shared that the shop has been in the family for roughly 35 years—a rare kind of continuity you can taste in every bite.
If you’re passing through after a weekend in the woods, whether you’re in need of clean clothes or just a bit of fried perfection, this place is worth the stop.

My favorite place to stop in Tupper Lake. I bought a hoodie I like it so much. Then, years later, I ruined the hoodie in a load of laundry at my home in Texas. I called and coordinated buying a new hoodie and getting it shipped to me. They were so helpful! Big fan of this business! Thank you so much!

I know, you’re thinking really? 5-star for atmosphere? Yes! Where else are you going to get fresh homemade & delicious donuts in the company of a laundromat?! The quirk is what gives the place charm, but really the donuts are truly amazing — some of best I’ve ever had, and handmade by the owner himself throughout the day. Don’t miss a stop here!

I kid you not, these were probably the best donuts I have ever had. What’s cool is that it triples as a gift shop, laundromat, and donut shop. Really unique but the donuts were simply incredible. The maple flavor was super delicious.

Best donuts ever!! NO comparison. We’ve been coming to the daks 1-2 times per year for the last 20(?) years and try to include a stop here even if it’s out of the way. We were there again 2 days ago, with about 10 frosting flavors to choose from. Watched the hikers ahead of us in line stop outside to get a shot of the half-dozen in their box as they left. Big smiles all around! Keep up the great work, will be there again in July!

Such a unique stop, with a donut shop, gift shop and laundry mat all in one. We happened to see the donuts when passing through and decided to try them out. They were delicious. Tasted freshly fried with crisp edges and cakey insides, and frosted to order with silky buttercream. The pumpkin glazed was the grown-up favorite, and my daughter loved the strawberry frosted. We’ll definitely stop when we’re in town again.

This is an interesting place to review as there were so many different things inside. It’s a gift shop a laundry mat and a donut shop. But I only got the donuts so that’s what I will review. The donuts themselves were good but the frosting was very bad and way too much frosting on each donut. I was with a group and we ordered one of everything. There were a couple we liked the frosting on but I can’t remember the names. Be ready to scrape off the frosting to accommodate your taste.
