We were driving down to go to Astoria and saw this place had good Google reviews, and we are glad we stopped for brunch! The crab eggs benedict and biscuits & gravy were phenomenal, perfect ratios of seasoning and each ingredient was prepared how it should (crab was fresh and tender, bread properly toasted, etc). The razor clam chowder was more smoky than I was used to for chowder, but was delicious after adjusting for this different style. Will be back!

Our first time at the Wandering Goose and we were honked at by the farm geese wandering around the expansive green yards surrounding the Tokeland Hotel which is where the restaurant is located.

Were were seated immediately in what is called the lobby area and our small dog settled under the edge of the table onto her brought along pillow. Yes, the four tables in the lobby area can have “small well behaved dogs” as verified by an advance phone call.

The restaurant was well populated but not at all noisy. The background music was a well curated selection of folksy songs of which I couldn’t identify but were enjoyable.

With a start to exploring the menu. A selection of both breakfast and lunch items were ordered among us. Clam chowder with a wedge salad, a dish called the Saw Mill which consisted of a large piece of fired chicken with a cooked egg on top and a large crumbly biscuit on top of that. A gravy, breakfast potatoes, and fried green tomatoes were included. The third dish was the eggs Benedict also served with the potatoes and tomatoes.

All of these dishes were fantastic. The chowder had something I couldn’t identify that took it beyond the usual potato and clam soup. Everything on the Saw Mill plate was delicious. The same for the eggs benedict with a great hollandaise sauce that the lemon was subtle and not overpowering.

The staff was friendly and attentive.

As enjoyable as the side gravy was I would suggest they offer it with all dishes that include the breakfast potatoes

If the opportunity arrives again that we will be in the area The Wandering Goose will be a planned stop.

I don’t know how to explain it, but The Wandering Goose just gets it. Everything about this place feels right, from the food and drinks to the people and the atmosphere. Every detail is crafted with care, and you can taste the love and creativity in every bite.

The cocktail program is pure magic. Each drink is crafted like a work of art, with fresh herbs, flowers, and house-made infusions. The mocktails are just as creative and full of character, and the wine list feels handpicked by a friend who knows exactly what you’ll love.

Favorites appear on the menu that you can’t help but order over and over again, but the seasonal specials always tempt you to try something new. Every bite feels intentional, layered, and beautifully balanced, and it all comes together with the kind of warmth and care that makes this place unforgettable.

The Wandering Goose isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a whole sensory experience built around community, creativity, and joy. It’s the kind of food that makes you want to linger, laugh, and toast to the simple magic of being right where you are. ✨

This isn’t just a place to eat or stay, it’s a FULL experience. A true must-add to your bucket list.

Make sure you meet Heather, the magical woman behind it all. Her vision and heart are felt in every detail.

Don’t miss her cookbook in the small shopping area, a beautiful extension of the experience.

Everything is outstanding: the dining, the breathtaking chandelier designed by local florist Evergreen Flower Farm, the signature Tokeland Hotel candles by the local candle maker at Tokeland Candle works and thoughtfully curated goods bringing magic to every shelf, the warm and welcoming staff, the animals, and the stunning hotel grounds.

You’ll also find incredible local art displayed throughout the property by local artists, including Jeffro Uitto, the unforgettable hammer tour hosted by Heathers husband, Zack himself, don’t forget to sign up for a private hot tub session, and enjoy the most comfortable linens and bedding, every detail perfectly and intentionally curated for your comfort.

From start to finish, it’s magic!!!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our family dinner. Love the farm animals wandering around! Gazpacho was incredible and I ate the most perfectly seasoned and tender ribeye, it was so good! Also recommend the fried green tomatoes and homemade ranch. Fantastic service. Ambiance is rustic, warm, and comfortable. Would go back.

We traveled here from Westport while vacationing to visit the Wandering Goose. OMFG.. the food is AMAZING! We ordered fried green tomatoes before our entrees. The tomatoes themselves were HUGE..nicely fried with the herb dipping sauce complimenting them well. My wife had the chicken fried porkchop meal with sides of mashed yukon gold potatoes and crunchy white coleslaw. The pork was favorable, very tender. The coleslaw was some of the best she’s ever had. My fried chicken dish was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Very moist chicken, large pieces as well. The collard greens had a nice flavor to them and whatever gravy that was used on the mashed yukon gold potatoes, I wish I could purchase it by the barrel! We both thought that the potatoes were OUTSTANDING! Also took home about 9 of their cookies plus a brownie, their bakery is just that delicious! I would DEFINITELY recommend this place for supper if you happen to be in the area!

We enjoyed an outstanding dinner tonight at The Wandering Goose. Service was wonderful and the food was the delectable. This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, chicken fried pork chop with mashed potatoes and delicious gravy, rockfish with grits and we took home a brownie that didn’t disappoint. The ambiance is lovely and while we didn’t see Gus the Bus we met kitty Francesca the Bus.
I highly recommend dining here for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s worth the splurge for this level of dining experience. Yes, 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill–get over it and enjoy your fine dining experience in a casual setting.

I had a fried chicken plate with greens mashed potatoes and a biscuit with a lemonade. Very kind friendly staff and delicious food. The chicken was fried perfectly. the mashed potatoes had a wonderful consistency. The greens were slightly sweet, which i wasnt expecting, but they were still delicious and home made hot sauce was provided which would have offsetted the sweetness but honestly, i liked them the way they were. the biscuit (with raspberry jam) was so girthy that i almost didnt get dessert, but their pastries looked so good that i just had to try one. I ended up getting the peach coffee cake which was phenomenal. They do allow pets, they even have their own cat, so if you have allergies id recommend medicating before hand. The atmosphere is quite charming, as its connected to a hotel, but i wasnt staying the night, I traveled 3 hours just for the food and i must say, it was worth it for me. There is a 20% gratuity charge, so keep that in mind but dont let it deter you from enjoying the menu, you wont regret it.

The food was excellent. The waitress was excellent. The only thing that wasn’t so excellent was where we were seated. We were right next to the bar in a cold little corner, near a table of loud people. A more quiet table would have been nice with something to look at besides windows at dark thirty, since we were there the evening before we got married.
Other than that, it was very good.
