The magical evening curated by Jonathan Sadowski was pure perfection. From the moment we settled into those impossibly plush velvet seats, I knew this wasn’t just dinner—this was an EXPERIENCE. The live jazz wrapped around us like a silk scarf while we pretended to say things like “darling” unironically.
I ordered Doris’ Dance (a Clover Club with a makeover) and the TV Dinner—yes, it comes on an actual metal tray, because they’re committed to the bit and I respect that. The piano bar is LITERALLY built on a working piano, which is the kind of bonkers attention to detail that makes you wonder if they’re okay but also never want to leave.
The “windows” showing fake views of nighttime LA? The red velvet curtains you can draw for privacy in the snug booths? I felt like a movie star hiding from paparazzi. The dress code that makes you feel fancy? Absolutely worth digging out those good shoes.
Fair warning: you might forget what decade you’re in. I briefly wondered why my iphone didn’t have a rotary dial.
This place is what happens when nostalgia, impeccable taste, and someone who really understood the assignment all meet in a beautifully lit room upstairs. Come for the cocktails, stay because you’ve been transported to a better, swankier timeline.
5/5 – Would time travel again.
Food and service were great.
They had live music/karaoke. Some original musicians, some locals, most singers had their own guitar to play karaoke which was really cool. Emily Brooks played a short acoustic set of originals, which was really cool, and other artists took turns doing originals and covers. It was also open to anyone who wanted to sing karaoke (sans guitar) or use the piano. Not a typical karaoke bar crowd, in a good way.
Their cocktails were good. Had a nice wine list but I didn’t try any. We had a tequila and mezcal one, both were good and creative.
The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The menu is a little expensive for what you get, but I get that you’re paying for more than the food, like the experience. I’d probably have spent the same amount at any of the many modern trendy westside Italian restaurant. Tiramisu was really good!
And can’t forget the service, they were really nice and attentive. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Shout out to them, and all of the staff that are a part of the restaurant.
I would love to come back for drinks, listen to music, and even play. A really well-put together place. Totally unassuming from the ground floor/main dining room, until you walk upstairs.
Honestly, the garlic bread was a joke. It was literally blackened toast with garlic sprinkled on it. The steak was good but for $50 there should be more than just mashed potatoes on the plate. The drinks were good and so was the tiramisu which saved the night.
Some of the staff came off as very passive aggressive and annoyed that we complained but there was nothing else we could do at that point. Having to wait almost an hour for a glass of water is absolute insanity. I will say, the ambience is excellent and the music was incredible. However, this doesn’t make up for the poor service and mediocre food.
