Seriously, our waitress Marsi was absolutely exceptional—the best service we’ve had in ages. She was attentive, super friendly, and made the experience perfect.
The manager, Rama, is clearly wonderful and runs a fantastic venue.
If you’re on the Gold Coast, this place is a must. Great atmosphere and even better service!
To start we had made a reservation asking specifically for seating with a good view. I attempted to call 4 times to make sure, all of which no one answered.
I understand it’s a request not an obligation but there didn’t seem to even be an attempt to book a better table. My partner complained was told there was nothing else they could do and then the service was a slippery slope to the point my partner had to speak up just to get water to their table.
Second off. My partner said there was a hair in the food. I don’t need to explain why that isn’t acceptable.
When my partner asked the staff about it they just took the plate away saying they will replace it without letting my girlfriend speak and without apologizing. It isn’t right mainly because up to that point she has already had enough. Feels let down with the service and wants to leave not to dine in any further.
They attempted to make her pay for the full meal but she stayed strong and defended herself only when they noticed they were making a scene that they agreed to let her pay for everything else except the two dishes which the hair was found.
I feel that the staff were trying to take advantage if the fact she wasn’t a native speaker of English and cut her off repeatedly and were dismissive. I don’t mean to say this is the reality but that’s how it came across especially when they seem cordial and friendly to other customers.
In short I wouldn’t advise coming here as a tourist. First impressions mean a lot and this set an extremely negative tone.
Do better.
The Tropic is one of those iconic Gold Coast restaurants that locals and visitors alike seem to rave about—and now I understand why. With so many glowing recommendations online, we made sure not to miss it during our trip. We arrived around 4:30 PM for an early dinner, perfectly timed to enjoy the breathtaking sunset views. And the scenery is absolutely unbeatable.
The service was just as impressive. Every staff member greeted us with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm, making us feel like we were truly on holiday. The relaxed yet attentive atmosphere added so much to the experience.
We ordered their specials of the day: a vibrant beetroot salad, half a dozen fresh oysters, delicate fish carpaccios and a rich duck meat pasta and with Tiramisu. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor—fresh, balanced, and satisfying.
The food was delicious and the view was amazing. We were a group of 9 andopted for the bottomless bellinis and wine package. We stayed for a couple of hours and we were really pleasantly surprised. We didn’t have to ask a single time for a refil, our glasses were always topped up which we really appreciated. I’ve tried quite a few bottomless brunch spots over the years and this is the first time we genuinely felt like we were getting our moneys back worth
Thank you to our waitress Ellie, everything was amazing! We’ll absolutely be back!!
We had about 4-5 share plates for entrees including oysters which were sublime as well as the spicy bread and hummus which was extraordinary.
Our mains of squid, snapper and the best roast chicken I think I’ve ever had were amazing too.
The desserts should not be underestimated either with the tiramisu, lemon meringue and brûlée was equally impressive.
Overall this was a lunch that ticked all the boxes except for the rainy day which did not distract from a five star lunch experience.
