Overall, this place was great. The food was excellent, and the drinks were solid—though a bit overpriced, with cocktails running around $13, which felt steep. We started with the fried crab balls, and they were absolutely delicious. For our mains, we ordered the fried green tomato BLT and the blackened chicken Alfredo, and both dishes were fantastic. Our waitress was wonderful as well. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

Stopped here on our way home from a great week at Indian Beach. They have a really good breakfast. I had the Southern Eggs Benedict. Probably will be back next year.

I honestly question some of the rave reviews here. We came for breakfast, and while the Southerner omelette seemed to be the most popular item, it was already sold out by 9 AM — which feels way too early for them to run out of their signature dish. The coffee was terrible, and the service was just so-so. Nothing about the experience would make me want to return.

Great menu. Great kid’s options, as well. The food was awesome. The eggs were cooked exactly the way I liked them, and may have been my favorite part of the meal! This was a neat, pleasant little spot to start the day. The wait wasn’t terrible, either. I’d revisit it. I’d also recommend it!

We should have turned around and left as soon as we arrived. With the current restaurant rating of 92.5. First time eating there and will be the last. Ordered Brussel sprouts appetizer and hushpuppies. The only thing that was decent was the hushpuppies. The Brussels were cremated. My son ordered kids shrimp – horrible. I ordered shrimp and grits. Supposed the be award winning but weren’t any award in my eyes. What really pissed me off was a couple came in and was seated by the hostess who played on her phone the whole time we where there. They were given a menu but no one came to take their drink order they sat there and then finally got up and left. There were only two couples in the restaurant. The service was slow, food horrible and will never be back. Avoid when in Emerald Isle, NC

Highly recommended!! First time visiting and we absolutely loved it. The food is fresh and delicious, their chicken bacon Mac and cheese is to die for! Best hush puppies I’ve had, hands down. Amazing customer service as well. We loved it so much, we have to come back again and try their breakfast and lunch! 10/10

We went to The Trading Post for lunch today. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Some of the tables, chairs, and decorations had a reclaimed distressed wood theme. Checked out the patio area which had seating and an additional bar. We ordered for an appetizer the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese and pepper jelly. I loved them! They were hot, crunchy, cheesy, and had a kick if you added the jelly. It was a perfect start! My wife ordered the seafood platter with oysters, grilled shrimp, and macaroni and cheese as a side. I ordered the chicken and waffles. My wife’s seafood unfortunately came out barely warm. Once we advised our waitress of this they quickly reheated it and the manager checked to ensure it was good. My waffles were SWEET. I don’t think I’ve ever had waffles that were sweeter. I noticed there were little clumps of sugar that actually crunched when you chewed them. It was too sweet for me. It didn’t complement the fried chicken that was on top. I ordered mac and cheese as a side dish because I was craving it. I was disappointed. I don’t like dry Mac and cheese and this was very dry. I prefer a Mac and cheese to have a sauce or creamy element. This had none and they added crumbled Ritz crackers to the top. Overall, I liked the decor, the service was attentive, but the food was either hit (fried green tomatoes) or miss (waffle & Mac and cheese).

We are visiting the area for the week and thought we would try it for dinner! We’re so happy we did! It’s a great cozy, environment. We sat inside but the outside sitting area is beautiful. Definitely get the crab dip – it’s delicious! Our server Slay was so kind and courteous. She even made us strawberry lemonades- again delicious. I ordered the blackened Mahi, it was really good just wish there was a sauce to tie it all together. Highly recommend

Great food, great service. The wait for a table wasn’t too long, the wait staff was there promptly to take our orders and the food was out very quickly.
