The fried catfish was hot and perfectly crispy & that part I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the sides were disappointing. The fries were soggy, cold, and overly salty, and the mac and cheese was bland and lacking a proper cheese sauce. On a brighter note, the bread pudding was delicious, small in portion, but very tasty. I was happy with the fish and dessert, but the sides really let the meal down.

Trace grill is mom/grandma’s home cooking for the entire family!

A huge menu, great quality, great variety, all prepared well, hot, fresh and brought to your table.

Order up front, give them your name, grab your drink and silverware and find a table.

Shortly after, a friendly server will be bringing your lunch.

The meatloaf and country fried steak are good. The vegetables are seasoned and prepared just like you like them. Excellent sweet potato fries and onion rings.

Folks go here just for the fried chicken livers!

Only 2 things difficult about Trace Grill; choosing what entree/sides to order and finding a parking place!

Large plate of great food with drink and a tip for under $20.

The special of the day was chicken fried chicken so I got that with three sides, mashed potatoes, turnip greens, and French fries. I’m not sure where I put all that food but I ate just about all of it (less a few fries) and the cornbread.

Took a little bit to get our food because they were very busy, but given the crowd, it was very reasonable.

Will definitely try them again the next time I’m up this way.

My apologies for not providing a 5 star review for any of the many times I’ve eaten there. Yesterday at noon the cornbread was cold and the usual flavor in the lima and green beans was missing as well as the cabbage. The lima beans could’ve spent a little more time in the pot. Had it been my first visit I would not return. I will be back at least once more because I know how great they usually are.

This establishment is pretty clean and the atmosphere is decent enough. As you walk in, you take a menu, make your choice and then head over to the cashier. You place your order and find your own seat. I ordered a Blue Plate which consisted of meatloaf, bbq beans and Mac n Cheese. I added brown gravy on the meatloaf. My food was brought out pretty quick. The portions are generous and the food came nice and warm. However, in spite of the extra gravy on the meatloaf, it was a bit too dry for my taste. The bbq beans and the Mac n Cheese were pretty good. The plate came with a piece of cornbread, but it was pretty dry unfortunately. Overall, I gave this grill three stars. There is definitely room for improvement. In total I paid $13.24 which is not bad. Now the big question: Will I return to this establishment? Probably not.
(Sorry about the weird lighting in the pics.)

We are traveling from Texas to Florida. We decided to make it a two day trip to do a little sight-seeing. We decided to check this place out because this place was close to our hotel and we like to try local places we can’t get at home. We found this restaurant and really liked it, though there are a few things we’d change. My husband had the ribs, green beans and onion rings; my daughter had the BLT on jalapeño bread; my son had one of the burgers and I had the veggie plate with coleslaw, collard greens, black-eyed peas and fried okra served with cornbread. The only negatives I had with the food was the fries were not good, kind of cold and tasteless, coleslaw was a bit bland and cornbread was served cold, but maybe that’s how they serve it. My daughter’s BLT was really good!! I was hoping my collard greens were served in a bowl as well as my black-eyed peas…good for soaking my cornbread in. But all in all, we’d definitely return if in the area again, even though this should be 2 dollar signs because it wasn’t cheap. Glad we found Trace Grill.

My second trip here. I came for the fried green tomatoes which you can get as a side or as an appetizer. I got the appetizer and it was good! The burger was seasoned great and huge. Well worth the trip and convenient to Jackson, Madison, canton, and Natchez trace. The staff were great as well.

I love this place so much I decided to use their catering service for a work event. I was very pleased with not only the food, but the service. Lisa, the Catering Manager was extremely helpful and made several suggestions for popular menu options. We decided on Rosemary chicken and Hamburger steak as two entree options, both were a hit. They crowd loved the peach cobbler for dessert as well. Mario delivered our food and was so pleasant to work with. I will be using their catering service again!

I just went to this gem with our Eat MS / Tri-county foodie group! And I will be coming back soon!!!

SERVICE:
You walk in & go to the counter with its large overhead menu board. (they also offer regular menus to look at) After placing your order you go to the drink station then seat yourself. They have multiple dinning areas including a private dining room. The staff will call your name, you raise your hand & your food is brought to your table. The staff is very friendly & helpful!

FOOD:
I really liked this place!
The food options had something for everyone, the food came out hot & the prices were very affordable! There are multiple blue plate options that are all available daily. You can choose 2 or 3 vegetables with your meals. Vegetables plates are also available with so many amazing options. If you like onion rings, you “MUST” give theirs a try!
I had the cowboy steak. This is a larger version of their chopped steak than the 1 on their blue plate. It also came with a salad.

Their parking lot always appears full to me but they do have an overflow lot.
