is not a modern restaurant, and it has no intention of becoming one. This is a traditional tortillería, the kind that’s getting harder and harder to find, and that’s exactly why it matters.
They sell flour tortillas, nixtamalized corn tortillas, fresh corn masa, and gorditas, all with an old-school, ranch-style flavor, made the way it was done years ago. No preservatives, no shortcuts, nothing industrial. What you eat here is real corn, properly treated and prepared the traditional way.
The place itself is simple and old, but clean and honest. There’s no trendy décor or social-media polish. Just comales, the smell of corn, and people who clearly know what they’re doing. The gorditas are outstanding, with that deep, authentic flavor that only comes from well-done nixtamalization.
This is not a place you judge like a regular restaurant. El Pocito is local culinary heritage. It’s the kind of spot we should protect, support, and keep alive, because once places like this disappear, they don’t come back.

I’ve had better but can appreciate the hard work and dedication to making things from scratch. Small place, ordering is confusing but easy enough. Very hot so be prepared. Definitely a must try

Hands down best tortillas in town
Tacos are delicious…ladies are really nice and helpful. Not a sitdown kinda place but nothing wrong with eating fresh hot tacos right off the stove
And they have gorditas too.
went twice… definitely go by when you’re in town…

The tortillas here are so delicious and yummy. They are hand made to order.
I didn’t really care for the chicharron but the guisado and barbacoa were sooo good !
The Gordita is too thick for my liking but the tortillas de harina are absolutely delicious.
There’s not really a sit down area to eat. You order wait and eat in ur car or wherever u want.
I really recommend the tortillas like sooo good! Would go back just to get those lol.

Definitely just take out. So authentic. And so worth it. We all got one taco & one gordita each. We were freaking out over how good everything tasted. You can’t go wrong.

Will no longer be buying tortillas from this place. Because of the tariffs, they are overcharging us when its not our fault. It’s called price-gouging. Will be buying my tortillas from HEB instead. Don’t waste your time or money here. Too expensive.

They’ve been cooking the best tortillas/Gorditas in the town for 110 years. The barbacoa taco and the bean and cheese gordita honestly try everything from here

This place is a diamond in the rough. From soft succulent tortillas to amazing guisados in the fluffy gorditas and wonderful women that give you a nice conversation while they do their thing, the tortilla factory gives the old time community first vibes. We had a nice conversation with the lady that makes the tortillas and she was kind and even gave us a sample to try them out for the first time. Once tasted we bought a pack. And got 2 gorditas with puerco asado a d chicharrón. Both amazing. The barbacoa taco was absurdly good. Definitely worth the almost hour drive here. Will be coming back soon.
