But we were told we had to wait 20 minutes and that the patio was “only for guests with pets.” Okay… except while we were waiting outside, we noticed only ONE table even had a pet. The other four or five tables didn’t. And THEN we watched other people come in with no pets and get seated outside. So… what was the reason again??
When we finally sat down, the server gave us menus, water, and coffee, and then just vanished. Nobody checked on us. Meanwhile, all the staff were standing at the front chatting like they were on break.
The food? Super average. Definitely not worth the price. Plus they add an extra 5% service fee on top. And all the utensils are just sitting together on a metal rack that does not look clean. On top of that, there were flies everywhere—flying around and landing on the food. Not appetizing.
So yeah… cute theme, but the actual experience? Not worth coming back. I still left tips that I shouldn’t.
We got seated indoors right away (12:30 on a Friday). Turns out though that a group of six young women were seated behind us and their conversation was lively. We asked to move closer to the front door area. It was much better. And no shade to the young women, they were just catching up and having fun. Plus, the acoustics indoors is quite live.
Our server Kayce B was super nice. She brought us waters and coffees right away.
We’d already looked at reviews and knew we were splitting a Giant Cinnamon Roll and Breakfast Tacos with Roasted Potatoes.
We placed our order and the Giant Cinnamon Roll came out right away. It was sweet and tasty but it was not giant (see pic). Eat the cinnamon roll as soon as it’s placed as it turns hard after about 10 minutes.
The meal came soon after. It was a lot of food and we’re happy we split it. We had scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, ham and ham in our taco. They were served hot and with a cup of salsa on the side. The tacos were real tasty.
The roasted potatoes were amazing. So happy they were oven roasted and not deep fried. They were perfectly cooked. Nice and creamy inside and seasoned well too.
We have no plans to return to Flagstaff (been here a few times) but we recommend you give The Toasted Owl a try.
It was raining so we popped in and got some hot chocolate to go. I can’t wait to come back and have a full breakfast because it smelled and looked SO good! It is so cute and eclectic inside and the patio is huge with plenty of tables and umbrellas.
This places also sit on Route 66 it was a great experience overall
Forgot to mention !! They told us it would be a 40 minute wait but !! It really was only 20
Expect a wait time to be anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes but trust me is worth it !!

But the food was just ok. I tried the almond flour pancakes the veggie scramble. Neither were bad but both lacked flavor. The portions were generous and it seemed like a healthy meal.
I have to mark them down significantly for deceptive hidden fees however. They charge a 5% service fee that doesn’t go to the servers and isn’t mentioned on the menu. I understand needing to raise prices for increasing costs, but that should be done in a clear manner such as increasing the cost of the meals on the menu.
Hidden fees are simply unacceptable. Be clear about the cost. I would give them 4 stars if they weren’t deceptive.
