My family recently moved to Tennessee after many years in very urban places. We went to Fairview area to visit a high school friend we hadn’t seen in 37 years!
She recommended The Thompsons Kitchen, so there we all went.
We started with the cheese appetizer with the Halloumi Saganaki. It was exquisite! The red wine poached pears along with the smoked honey (that’s where the smoke came from!) was FANTASTIC. As and avid smoker of things, this drew me in right away.
I didn’t get a picture of the Scallop Bakudan which was shared by others, and while I can’t say how it tasted, the dishes were empty.
For entrees we had: Smokey Iceberg Wedge Salad (picture neglect, my bad), the Bird of Paradise (such a unique set of flavors that will not leave you disappointed), and the Korean BBQ Bowl (enjoyed by the 16 year old who completely destroyed it).
It was a great experience, good service, good food, and even more fun because our friend took care of the tab for us 🙂 I only rated the atmosphere a 4 because it was really cold in there. The hostess did mention they were working out some AC issues.
We’ll definitely stop here again when visiting or just when we get a wild idea to get out for the weekend.

Thompsons Kitchen is our favorite place for incredible food, the best service, and cozy atmosphere. Whether it’s lunch with the girls or date night the food is consistently phenomenal. Truly a place where “everyone knows your name”- we always feel welcomed and well cared for each time we have the honor of dining here. The seasonal menu is always fresh, the specials are truly special. We love when we get to sit in Stacy’s area- he truly is the best of the best with his knowledge of the menu and recommendations. 100% worth the drive out Hwy 100 to this excellent dining experience!

Strange ambiance. Definitely not “southern” food. I appreciate them reaching outside of the norm but unfortunately it wasn’t very appetizing. So many flavors in each dish that really just made it overwhelming. We got the halloumi appetizer which was not good. We also got the birds of paradise and the Korean bbq steak bowl. The entrees were palatable but nothing special. Service was great. Menu was small.

I can’t believe we have lived in franklin forever and this hidden gem snuck into town 5 years ago! We had dinner there tonight and can’t say enough! From being greeted by one of the owners to our amazing server we felt at home…we wanted to try everything!! We had the sweet potato appetizer along w the shrimp/pita bread app…then onto some shrimp tacos and the stuffed squash for dinner….topping it off w the double brownie w amazing ice cream and whipped cream! There are just not enough words…Each bite was literally amazing!! The atmosphere was cozy, warm and inviting!! Thank you TK for working hard to have such a great place for us to enjoy!

We absolutely love Thompson’s! The food is always phenomenal, and I recommend it to anyone that’s passing through Fairview. It’s upscale enough for a sweet date night, but they are also incredibly welcoming to my noisy little family when we just want to go somewhere nice for lunch. The owners are so sweet, and they go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and welcome. A little pricier, but there’s really nothing like it in the area. Well worth the cost for great food and atmosphere – without the drive into Nashville!

This place is SO good! We love the location and the fact that it’s a quiet and semi-secluded little gem away from the busy part of town. The character is unmatched! The service is always very sweet and welcoming, and they do a great job! We absolutely love the food. There’s quite a variety of options to choose from! The fries are a MUST TRY! We try to make this a regular spot for us when we come into town! We’ve always been pleased with our visits and highly recommend it!

We happened upon this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon drive and decided to try. We will be new regulars! I’m vegetarian, it can be tricky to find a good meal outside of urban areas. At Thompsons Kitchen there were several well balanced choices, I loved my dinner, my carnivore husband greatly enjoyed his as well and the seasonal craft cocktails were fantastic. Service was great, and a warm, cozy atmosphere.
For gluten free diners there were several options as well. What a treat to find!

Had a great evening at this little place in Fairview, Tennessee!
We walked in and it was hot! Real Hot! I thought I was going to melt. It took a minute for me to adjust but I did.
We started out with the Shrimp Dip! Wonderful, creamy, crispy! It was served with pita bread that was slightly toasted. We thought it was a great touch.
I had the shrimp and grits. 2nd best I’ve had! Added Smokey Gouda cheese to the dish that was already busting with flavors of bacon. Well done!
My wife had the Pecan Crusted Rainbow Trout with gnocchi. It was equally good with perfectly cooked fish and just as flavorful!
We added the homemade bread and oil and balsamic.
