This place is great!! My friends and I came here for lunch, since a Red Feather Lakes local suggested eating here! I am unfortunately on a very strict diet at the moment, and am not able to have anything on the menu. Since they serve Gulf Shrimp, I wanted too try some still. The chef personally came out and asked me exactly what I can have, so that he can still prepare something delicious. The food cake or quickly, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered! Will definitely be back, and hope to try the Gumbo soon!

If you find yourself in Red Feather Lakes, do yourself a favor and stop at The Thirsty Moose. This place feels like stepping straight into a cozy, small-town Colorado postcard — warm wood, friendly faces, and that relaxed mountain-town energy you just can’t fake.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming. The owners — a wonderful husband-and-wife duo — were so kind, present, and genuinely invested in making sure everyone had a great experience. You can immediately tell they pour their heart into this place. (Fun bonus: the wife is also a local Realtor, so if you’re house-hunting in the area, you’re already meeting the right people!)
Now for the food… wow. The burgers are unbelievable. Easily some of the best I’ve had in Colorado. Perfectly cooked, piled high, with amazing flavor. The fried pickles were crispy and addictive, the curly fries hit the spot, and everything came out hot and fresh. You can tell the kitchen cares about what they’re serving.
The bar itself is exactly what you want in a mountain town — rustic charm, good music, TVs for sports, local characters, and that “everyone’s welcome” vibe. Even the outdoor area has a great laid-back, inviting feel with picnic tables and Colorado sunshine.
Whether you’re a local, passing through, or escaping to the mountains for the weekend, The Thirsty Moose is one of those rare places that feels like home the moment you walk in. Great people, great food, great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
