I started off at the inside bar with the FESTBIER from Notch Brewing that had a good mix of malt & sweetness, a excellent beer for the season. My second pint was the SAPA Lager from Schilling Beer Co. It was a excellent above average lager with hints of lime & lemon on the finish, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Schilling. For my third pint I scooped the PEACH SILHOUETTE Sour IPA from Hudson Valley Brewery, a good balanced sour/IPA mix with neither one outdoing the other. In the past year or so the sour IPA style has finally started to find itself, I used to not be a fan, but I have had some awesome ones recently. My final pint was the PIWO GRODZISKIE Gratzer from Schilling, a smoked wheat beer that was my favorite pour of the visit. There was so much happening in my mouth here with every sip of this beer.
I scooped the “Taphouse Smashburger” with two 4oz patties, bacon jam, arugula, carmies, B&G pickles, American cheese, sriracha aioli on a potato bun with fries. There was a lot happening here, but it all worked, the burger was delicious & I wish I had stepped it up to a triple or quad. I’m a huge fan of bacon jam or bacon onion jam on my burgers along with pickles & carmelized onions so this burger personally spoke to me.
There is a lot going on with the restaurant, bar, outside biergarten & patio. You can find seating inside & out with all the options including bar seating, tables, hightops with picnic tables & more outside on the patio. I’m not sure the history of the building The Taphouse is in, but I’m sure theres some being in downtown Center Harbor, NH. The owner Sam was there, he was super friendly & accommodating chatting beer with my friend & I for a bit. A really cool spot for sure well worth checking out for a good beer selection & of course that burger. This marks the third Notch Brewing biergarten I’ve been to this year with the Notch Biergarten by Beans & Greens in Gilford, NH as well as the Salam, MA taproom. Definitely give this place a look, The Taphouse is definitely worth checking out. Cheers! ☘✌♥️

The cups were spotted with “salt from the water” according to the server.
We ordered four house salads to start ($5). They all came out all at different times. No one told us that the salads would be made to order, but also we ordered all four of them at once, I’m not sure why they all came out at different times. The dressing for the salads was basically straight olive oil. It didn’t have any flavor whatsoever. Also, there was no salt or pepper on the table so we had to ask for it. If you’re not going to put salt and pepper on the table, then your food should be well seasoned.
We also ordered a pickled vegetable appetizer ($9), which never came out so we cancelled it. In the middle of the salads that all came out at different times, the entrees started to come out. I had received my salad last, and in the middle of my second bite of salad, my pizza came out. The timing was really sloppy, but also no one explained to us how it was going to work.
Three of us ordered pizza: a pepperoni ($21) , a sausage amd ricotta ($21) and a margherita ($17). The pizza was very heavy on the dough and light on the toppings. Also, the dough needed to be cooked more. My pepperoni pizza was sweet for some reason. No one mentioned that there would be sugar in the sauce, which is my guess. My father also did not enjoy his $19 smash burger, which was actually $24 after you added on the $5 for bacon (which is absolute highway robbery).
I also had to eat my pizza on my salad plate because the pizza was getting cold, and we never saw our server again after a runner brought our food. Bathroom was filthy.
After 4 olive oil soaked salads, mediocre entrees, and meh service, and a $156 bill before tip, we definitely won’t be going back. I recommend you save your money.
I was there for a networking event, so my visit was brief, but I will be back!
I like that they’ve kept the charm of the old house. I’m sure the separate rooms make it harder for the servers, but it makes for a cozy atmosphere.
I had a delicious slice of pizza, during the event, but suddenly there was this delicious smell. Colleagues waved me over to a bowl of truffle fries and with mouths full pointed and then gave me 2 thumbs up.
Heaven in a bowl. The truffle fries are just amazing.
