I came to The Tamal Store about a year ago and the experience was completely different back then — much better presentation and overall quality.

Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. I came on Sunday and was surprised to find out they were only selling frozen tamales. I decided to come back on Monday, but they didn’t have any sides available like pozole or pan de elote, which used to be my favorites.

I ended up ordering just a plain tamal, and to my surprise it no longer comes with cheese or cream like before. On top of that, the place was completely silent. I really missed the music — it was part of what made the experience enjoyable.

For me, they still have the best tamales I’ve found in Phoenix, but the presentation and overall experience have definitely gone down compared to before. That was really disappointing.

The Tamale Store is a true Phoenix gem. Their food is amazing—especially the tamales, which are tender, flavorful, and clearly made with love. If you’re looking for incredible tamales (or just great food in general), this is the spot. They also carry other Mexican food products and pastries, which makes it perfect for one-stop shopping. It’s a total lifesaver for the holidays if you don’t feel like cooking tamales yourself—let them handle it!
Beyond the food, I love their environment: warm, welcoming, and full of good energy. Whether you’re dining in or taking a dozen to go, you can’t go wrong.

Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a great place. Wish there was one is Colorado!! We got the hatch pepper and cheese with the green chili and it was SO GOOD! My husband doesn’t even like Tamales and he loved this place. Great environment. I even took home some dog friendly tamales for my pups.
Please come to COLORADO!

From the moment we stepped into The Tamale Store, I knew we had discovered something truly special. Finding a place that delivers on authentic flavor, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere is rare, but this gem does it all with ease.
When we first walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and greeted us with a warm hello that made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. That positive energy carried through the entire experience. We were immediately impressed by how impeccably clean the restaurant was; every surface gleamed, creating a comfortable and pleasant dining environment that speaks to their high standards.
The service was excellent. We placed our order and were amazed when our steaming hot tamales arrived at our table in under 10 minutes. This efficiency is remarkable for food that tastes so clearly homemade and fresh.
Of course, the star of the show was the tamales themselves—absolute perfection. The masa was moist and flavorful, and the fillings were generous and perfectly seasoned. Each bite was a testament to quality and tradition.
The Tamale Store is the complete package. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic tamales served quickly by a wonderfully friendly team in a spotless setting, look no further. We will definitely be back!

I came here for lunch and ordered the green chili chicken tamale. The price was extremely reasonable… the tamale was so damn good that even though I was full, I went back and ordered another tamale! This time I had the chicken mole. It was sweet and rich with a powerful flavor that had me doing my happy food dance. Huge surprise, they package tamales and freeze them so you can bring home dinner for everyone!

Hidden Gem Alert: Best Tamales in Phoenix!

I don’t usually leave reviews—unless a place really disappoints me or completely blows me away. And let me tell you, this place? Blew. Me. Away.

From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and super authentic. I originally stopped by for just a couple tamales… somehow left with a full dozen. I had a little buyer’s remorse—until I got home, opened them up, and took one bite.

Game over.

These tamales are next level. Fresh, flavorful, legit homemade goodness. The kind that makes you wanna slap your mama (but don’t—she’ll hit you with a chancla ). They even have tamales for dogs!

Located off Greenway & Cave Creek in Phoenix, it’s a small, easy-to-miss spot—but trust me, it’s worth the trip. My “week’s worth” of tamales barely lasted a day in my house.

Consider this your official warning: I’ve got a new addiction. And I’m not even mad about it.
