We drive about an hour just to experience what the Talk Shop has to offer.
The selection and quality of the food and drinks are great. The prices are just as good. The complete value is tough to top.
The folks who run the place do a great job of booking quality entertainment (magicians, karaoke, game nights, live music).
We are particularly partial to the independent and original musicians that make a stop at the Talk Shop while they are on tour.
Unless you are a super difficult person to please (we all know the type), you’ll definitely enjoy your time at The Talk Shop Lounge.

We often drive over an hour to attend free and ticketed live music at The Talk Shop Lounge. The food is good, the service is great and friendly and the opportunity to catch up and comers and seasoned musicians is a great treat for the area. The last show we caught was Clint Park and it was just a fantastic evening of about 3 hours of music and laughter. Get out and support live music venues and enjoy a good meal at the same time. Looking forward to our next visit.

Never attended a bad show here. A couple different rooms for varying size shows. We really enjoyed the Jake Stringer show, along with the older couple showing off their dancing skills. Bar service was great along with the food options on the menu. The regulars are welcoming as well. Can’t wait to come back (from DSM Metro).

Rented a room for a family event, was upgraded to the larger space free of charge after a cancellation. Staff was very welcoming and set up the tables, beautiful poinsettia centerpieces, Christmas lights hung up and set all the chairs for us. They had no reservation after us so we were allowed to run over our allotted time to finish the event and clean up. The venue was clean and very spacious, we had around 35 people attend with room for plenty more. Couldn’t recommend more, great pricing for either room and service was amazing.

Such a gem! Always the best service and such a great spot for up and coming as well as established music acts. Food is as good as it gets for bar food and ots just a short drive south of the metro. If you haven’t been you NEED to check it out!

Some friends and I, all who grew up in the area, decided to drive down for lunch. All were absolutely delicious, piping hot, large portions for the price, the service was great, and worth the drive. The cocktail and beer selection was good and well priced as well. Give it a try!

Friendly spot with tasty bar food. 1/2025 update. Enjoyed the Steak and aggs and WOW, they did an excellent job. Million dollar bacon is a must ! Worth the quick drive from Des Moines. March Madness for Live music has taken this roadhouse to the next level.

New Year’s show was a blast. The band and Jordan did an awesome job engaging with the crowd and making everyone feel included, even if you weren’t quite ready to jump up and sing or dance (me ♀️).
Fried pickles were amazing and the vibe was laid-back and welcoming. Definitely coming back and shoutout to the amazing owners for being inclusive to everybody!

Have never had a bad meal from the Talk Shop, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches have all been great. Onion rings are excellent and some of the best cheese balls I’ve had. Had a great time at the Ray Scott concert there too.
