Hands-down one of the best taco spots in the area. The moment you walk in, you can feel the team running a tight, guest-first operation, warm welcome, fast service, and food that overdelivers on every front.

The tacos are next-level: perfectly seasoned, generous portions, and incredibly fresh. You can tell the ingredients are prepped with real care. The tortillas have that just-made texture and char, and every protein option hits from the classics to their signature specials.

What really sets this place apart is the consistency and the hospitality. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a family dinner, everything is efficient and on-point. The staff genuinely make you feel looked after, and the whole experience has that “we’ve got you” energy that keeps you coming back.

If you’re looking for a taco shop that fires on all cylinders , flavor, value, and service , this is it. A standout in the local food scene. Highly recommended.

I had a tough situation going on with my card, and owner super helpful and onsite! I would return. They also do specials during events like the recent Nutcracker Festival

I was pleasantly surprised by the Taco Shop. Why? Because I was expecting over-hyped food, but instead got a delicious and authentic meal!

The Food:
I ordered the chicken quesa-taco, a lengua mulita, and a bottle of Coke. My wife ordered the chips with salsa, a cabeza quesa-taco, and a potato taco.

The quesa-taco is essentially 2 corn tortillas with melted cheese and meat, and the whole thing is then dipped in a consomme. Both the chicken and cabeza (meat from a cow’s head) quesa-tacos were awesome! The broth-like consomme provided the perfect complement to the cheesy, greasy (in a good way!) quesa-tacos. Meanwhile, the lengua (beef tongue) in the mulita (essentially a mini quesadilla that’s been fried) was soft and juicy, while the mulita itself was just the right amount of crispiness. Oh and I was thrilled to find that they sold not just Mexican Coke (which tastes like the Coke from my childhood, not what America sells today) but it also came in half liter bottle — more to enjoy!

I thought the chips and salsa and the potato taco were just OK, but my wife enjoyed both. And since she ordered them, that’s all that mattered .

The Service:
The young woman at the cash register was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. After we ordered, she told us to find a seat anywhere in the food hall and she would find us and bring us the food.

The Setting:
It’s important to note that the Taco Shop is located inside a food hall at the Center Street Promenade. That means it is not a standalone restaurant, but rather one shop inside a cafeteria with shared seating. Even though we came on a Sunday during lunch, when it was a little busy, we got a table while waiting for our food, so it worked out nicely. Not sure if we would be as lucky on a Friday or Saturday night.

Also, there’s not a ton of parking. You have to find free street parking (which is always taken) or park in a nearby parking structure and walk.

Overall:
With great service, yummy and authentic food, and decent prices, the Taco Shop is now officially among my bookmarked go-to taco restaurants.

Delicious. Got a birria and asada taco, came back for more a few hours later. (Still in the area, lots to see.)
It’s inside the food court and the ladies were patient and nice. If I was in the area I would definitely come back.
Too much fat on the birria for my taste but they gave me a lot of meat so it didn’t really matter. I think you need 1 extra tortilla for each taco bc they put so much on the small tortila…or bigger tortillas…not sure. Who cares it was good, so good I almost forgot to take a picture.

Al pastor burrito was excellent. Lots of flavor, juicy, good beans. Came with 4 different types of mild salsa (I requested mild), all very tasty. They have outdoor seating where I sat with my dog. They brought the food out to me, quickly, nice and warm.

As a resident that lives on the same street, I had high hopes for this place seeing how they’ve been busy since their opening. Unfortunately, I had an AWFUL experience and I seriously just wish I never went.
First thing first, this place was fairly easy to find. I know the only restaurants are usually in the Good Eats hall and I saw they were a new company, everyday after work and walking from the parking structure I could smell some delicious meat being what I thought grilled. I recently had friends over for my birthday and we wanted something quick and tasty, I suggested this place and boyyy.
Walking up to the counter was a young lady who for some reason had the most foul attitude. She did not greet anyone, she did not smile, she did not try to even up charge, she barely even made eye contact. We stood in front of the restaurant window and she literally just stared at us until I had to ask if she was ready for us. The only time she spoke was to ask if it was for here or to go.
In terms of food, we ordered the Baja Burrito w/ Shrimp, the Carne Asada Quesadilla, the nachos(?), and my friend ordered a Sopes and Guac. Everything was an utter disappointment except for the baja burrito. For what they charge you hardly get any food, to be charge 12$ for a flour tortilla, cheese, and some steak with NO sides was absurd. The craziest thing was the guac… you pay 7$ for a 2oz container of 1/8 of an avocado jammed with the other “Guac” ingredients.
Save yourself the money and the headache and go to the run down Mexican restaurant by Arco around the corner. I seriously wish I could have experienced this place when the owner was present because 1 bad employee can RUIN an experience.

Honest review here.
Got three street tacos here just to try (buche/asada/al pastor). The al pastor is not sliced but taste grounded like chorizo, the buche is bland and not as chewy, the asada was more like boil instead of charred. The rice and beans are good though. lol I’m sorry Service is awesome and it’s only $2 each!

I stopped in here with my Wife and 2 kids plus the in laws. Firstly, the food and salsa were amazing! The Owner(other reviews said his name was Fed) made sure to give 99.9% credit to his Wife, apart from the seasoning for the shrimp lol, twice, for the quality of the food, which I appreciate! The carne asada and birria were so darn good, I nearly cried!(I moved somewhere with terrible mexican food) When it comes to a restaurant with great food, the customer service will make or break that experience; the not so hidden gem of this restaurant are truly the Owners. Fred was extremely kind, personable, and proud of their food. I would come here just to schmooze with them, that’s how awesome they are! Skip the Disney slop and head to The Taco Shop!
