Our first time here late Sunday – had a Margheritta and hands down it was one of the best pizzas I have had in MN/WI. Atmosphere is wonderful and our dog enjoyed being there too!

It always takes a long time to get the pizza. We go more for the pretty setting. The pizza is fine but not incredible. Although, the atmosphere is fun, the breeze is nice and it is picturesque. Very “Wisconsin” for the out of town relatives and friends. We brace them for the wait time and they love it. We bring games to play with the kids while we wait too.

Despite stormy weather being predicted tonight in Nelson WI tonight, The Stone Barn did not disappoint. The pizza, drinks, service and ice cream (try the Mango/Carrot sorbet) were outstanding as always.

Matt and his crew are really into something special here. The pizza was great and there was live music! We sipped on wine and the kids even enjoyed ice cream after a playground visit and running the trails. Thanks! We’ll be back again very soon ❤️

Outstanding setting, quiet, beautiful, and great pizza and beer choices. No cell phone service for miles from T-mobile so be prepared!

The pizzas are huge and easily feed 2 people.

My wife and I really enjoy the Stone Barn. We drive a couple of hours from the Twin Cities to enjoy the setting and the atmosphere. The one complaint/question I have is why does it takes so long to get a pizza? We arrived to find out that the wait for a pizza was an hour. As a pizza hobbyist, and by no means a certified “pizzaiolo” I find it crazy that even though you run two wood fired ovens it takes so long to get pizza out. I notice that many of the customers were only 2 people to a table. Yes, there were families and larger parties. But still why do you need to serve such large pizzas? You could easily be cranking out amazing Neapolitan pizzas, about 14″ and offer incredible and unique toppings. They’re easier and faster to prep. If the party is larger they simply order 2-3, etc. I can churn out an amazing 14″ pie in my Roccbox in about 90 seconds or so at home that has a fraction of the stone space of your ovens. With the space of your ovens you’d have no issues keeping up even if the time is double that and you’d be turning multiple pies at a time in one oven instead of two large ones. You’d also have the added benefit of smaller trays. I’d suggest delivering every pie in a box which would save people coming up and asking for a to go box and you’d eliminate the tray issue altogether. It would also be a built in cover for flies which on that day were out in force and I had to cover my pie with napkins etc. so another problem is solved with a box. Additionally you’d have more manageable dough balls, and I’m confident that it would be easier and more efficient to build the pie and get it into the oven so the overall workflow in the back would be improved as well. While the pizza is good, I would dare say that the quality of the pizza would be even better and more asthetically pleasing to deliver to the customer. I wish you all the best and regardless, we’ll be back next year!

It’s an enjoyable hidden pizza eatery/bar/venue. There are many different wines, domestic beer, ciders, and craft beer to drink or pair with a large variety of artesian wood-fired pizzas. It is family-friendly, with lots of space for kids to play while not disrupting those out for a date night. It is only open on the weekend, and the pizzas are big, so it’s easy to over-order. The only two issues I have is that the regular red pizza sauce is pretty bland, and they don’t have any dairy-free options at the ice cream “shop.”
There was a wedding in the venue. However, the wedding venue operates independently from the restaurant, and neither interrupted the other.
Overall, I recommend taking the drive for some good pizza and good times.

Always a fantastic place to chill and enjoy music. The pizzas were lacking flavor this time around though.

Goodness you have some hard working people, friendly under fire too! We came as a big group and had 10 pizzas among us, but of wait but to be expected. The scenery is fantastic and the seating and casual vibe and setup passes every check. The pizza is always a showstopper and I’ll never have to complain about a bad Bloody Mary. Worth the two hour ride.
