Blake has been surrounded by the service industry throughout the last two decades of his life. His grilling journey started during his collegiate years at his uncle’s fast pace restaurant that specializes in steak. Blake worked and managed restaurant kitchens throughout the parish, as well as working alongside Chef John Folse in the food service division of his manufacturing plant. In 2011 Blake opened The SteaKhouse in a small location in downtown Hammond where they continued to cultivate Blake’s following along with their supreme regular customer base. In 2017 Blake was given an opportunity of a lifetime to move their growing business into Square 71 located at 200 SW Railroad Ave. in downtown Hammond.

Great steakhouse, centrally located to an amazing area. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in a steak while near the university. Priced reasonable and portions are appreciable. While I found the ribeye steaks tasty and cooked to perfect, the thicker filet was a bit overcooked. At the table, we also had the tuna, which looked to be cooked perfect to the order. Stuffed mushrooms and onion rings are definitely a must try option. While overall our party was pleased, I was a bit disappointed by the side dishes. Creamed spinach and sweet potato were both luke warm and not in the same culinary category as the meal.

So disappointed after trying this place. We had such high hopes after reading the reviews and drove 45 minutes to check it out. First of all, the atmosphere is terrible. We were in a side room that you had to walk through the bar to get to that was right near the bathrooms. Maybe the main part of the restaurant has a better vibe, but this room was not good. I will say that the steak egg rolls were very good, but that was about it. The ranch dressing on the house salad was super runny and almost tasted like flavored water. We all ordered our steaks medium rare and they were definitely not. They were completely charred and I would venture to guess well done. No pink whatsoever on the inside. Super bummed, especially for fine dining prices.

Good Svs. Good whiskey. My steak was cooked good but had a lot of gristle in it. Didn’t eat 1/2 of it. The shrimp were great.

We had steak eggrolls as an appetizer, and they were very good. My steak was fantastic. It was cooked exactly as ordered. The sides were actually more than I thought it would be so I had an entire meal the next day. I am looking forward to eating here again.

My husband and I wanted a nice, intimate dinner and a good steak! We drive by The Steakhouse in Hammond on almost a daily basis, doing errands in town. But, we have never been. So, we decided on a whim one Thursday night to stop and have dinner. We were NOT disappointed.

I come here with my parents when I’m visiting from out-of-town. Steaks are exceptional; I also enjoyed the Mac and cheese. Bar drinks are on point. Service is great.

I was extremely disappointed in my graduation dinner at the Steakhouse. The service was incredible and the waitress was very sweet and kind, but it’s clear that the management either didn’t know how to do their job or didn’t care. Several times after ordering the waitress had to report back that the restaurant was out of whatever we’d ordered, which was about half the menu. I don’t know if this was because the manager forgot to order the right amount of food or simply didn’t know how much to order, but it ended up leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. Again, this had nothing to do with the service, which was lovely.

By far the best steak you’re going to find in the Hammond area. Disregard the reviews saying the steak was just ok. I have eaten at all the best restaurants around here Baton Rouge, and New Orleans and you’re not going to beat this place. Service is always on spot and all the food is excellent!
