Reviews
It seems to be the only spot in Midland offering a breakfast special all week long and until 1:00 PM, which is a huge plus. The food was absolutely to die for—just look at the picture! If you haven’t been here yet, what are you waiting for? Head down and check it out for yourself; you won’t be disappointed.
Update: The restaurant has called me (same day) in an effort to make this right. And they will be delivering me another meal on Monday and based upon that this review may revised. Good customer service.
The two stars are for the naan. It was ok. The dal tadka however was awful. So disappointing to get only one dish and it’s terrible.
I will try to upload a video if it lets me, but basically the yellow dal was a spicy, but watery, red soup, with a layer of oil sitting on the top of it.
There were hardly any lentils in it, and the few lentils that were in it were mushed, overcookooked, and entirely tasteless. I ordered naan and roti to have something to pick the dal up with.
Well that was completely useless for this watery mess. A straw would have been better.
Of course I didn’t get a straw, or a spoon, or a fork, or a knife, or a napkin, or anything else. I had to run around my work finding somebody who had a fork.
I have just strained the “soup” and there is literally less than a quarter of a cup of lentils in that entire container of liquid.
For those of you who are going to ask.., yes, I did call the store and ask them if this was normal. The new girl working there told me she was also surprised at how it looked when she ordered it last week. She said “I guess they just make it that way”.
I was also told I could complain to doordash, or that if I came in to the store next week and explained the issue to the owners there is a chance they might do something for me, but that she could not guarantee that.
Doordash won’t give me a refund because something is poorly cooked, and I’m not even going to ask.
What I will do, is not patronize this restaurant anymore. It is a real shame as Indian food is my favorite.
Time to flush the soup.
So very disappointed
My family had their Aloo Gobi (amazing flavour- potatoes and cauliflower in a sauce with spices!) Hakka Noodles (tossed noodles with veggies, soy, garlic etc) Butter Chicken, Rice, Garlic Naan Bread, and Puff Pastry Samosas! So yummy!
Thank you Spicy Bench Restobar! We will be back:)
